Do the kids in Australia have these vaccinations as our eldest is now 12 and due it soon. Is there a system in place for this?
Cheers

Hmm, I once posted the lists of vaccinations for both UK and Aus - but it doesn't seem to have made the FAQ so let's try again...
Here's the UK one
http://www.immunisation.nhs.uk/And the Australian one
http://www.mydr.com.au/default.asp?article=3271There's a booster on rubella at 15-17 years for non-immune women of childbearing age.
Hope that helps!

There is an immunisation register here. You may consider getting your boys vaccinated against Hep B which is one of the standard immunisations here that the UK dosen't offer. They also do a vaccine for chickenpox but considering their ages thay may have already had the illness. You can get an Imms form from any Medicare office and take along to any Doctor to admisnister the vaccinne.

Is there a charge for this vaccine service mark?

The ones my kids have been offered through school, no there has been no charge. We are entitled to full Medicare, I don't know whether this makes any difference.

My 3 year old daughter had the Rubella vaccination as part of the single vaccinations that make up the MMR. We paid around $25.00 for the vaccination but the doctor's time we didn't pay for as we have Medicare.

Also if you plan to use childcare facilities and want to claim childcare benefit they will want the kids to be up to date as per the aussie schedule....
Matthew had to have the hepatitis jab....the others were OK....for the time being anyway...
They have also just brought out a cervical cancer vaccine as well which is being given free to all girls of a certain age...
We didn't have to pay for the jabs for matthew....

Just to confirm the cervical cancer vaccine has just started to be rolled out to females between the ages of 12 and 26. Those still at school are being offered it through the school. Laura has just had all the forms and info about it.

Hi Lee
As far as I know there isn't a charge for the vaccine, and wasn't charged for the consultation but to be honest it was our first visit to the doctors and wer'e not sure how the "bulk billing" system works, so maybe someone else can enlighten us? :sign69:

If you were going to be charged at all you'd have had to stump up at the time. A bulk billing doc's will deal with all the charges/paperwork behind the scenes for most things and you'll not have to pay unless it's something not covered by Medicare.
