Hi,
we have just had a e mail from our case officer to say that the police checks that we submitted were no good :doh: as they were issued by the South Austalian Police.

We now have to apply for a FEDERAL POLICE CHECK.

and wait for upto 30 days for that to come back before we are granted PR.

You need form 1101 and the cost is $36 each.

This form then needs to be sent to ACT (address on the form)

Back to the waiting game again

Thanks for letting us know, why didn't your CO tell you that to begin with? did you have to pay for the SA checks?

did you need also Police Check from UK? Or only Australian Police Check is required for the second stage of SIR Visa?

Hi Shaz,

The police checks that we had came back as National Police Cerfificates issued by south Australia. We had to have then done as we work with children. They check for ALL criminal offences

We were also checked by the Federal Police in December on behalf of the DECS.

No it didn't cost us anything.

Oh well its all in the post now.

I am just mad with myself as I assumed we had been checked out by the FEDS especially as the certificate read National Police Certificate.

Never Mind we live and learn. lets hope they don't take the 30 days it can take

No you only need a federal police check from Australia as you have lived here for more than 12 months and your UK one was current when you moved here
