Title: Teachers Registration Board
Description: Police checks and mandatory training
whidborne - June 13, 2007 08:33 PM (GMT)
Two and half weeks to go :happy45:
TRB have contacted me and they have said I have all the qualification requirements for registartion as a teacher :yeehah: . All I have to do now is the Mandatory Notification training when I arrive in Adelaide, does anyone have a contact address, e-mail, telephone number I can ring to book on the course please :P
TRB also want overseas criminal record check, I've already sent them the police check we had done for our visa, so do they mean an "enhanced Disclosure" document that you can also get from the CRB (Criminal Records Bureau).
They also want Australian criminal record check, which seems a bit daft as I have never been to Oz yet, anywho how do I go about getting one of these, who do I contact in Oz/Adelaide to get an Aussie police check
Any help gratefully recieved.

Hi
I'm still waiting for the TRB to get mine sorted but I've got my Mandatory Notification Training on 23rd June! If you google Edmund Rice camps you'll probably find details there - that's what I did and it was straight forward.
I've got to book my first aid training too so hope to do that soon.
Hope that helps,
Carla

Hi
if you go on the DECS website and go into the eligibilty to teach section it gives you some info for mandatory notification and first aid training. I have tried to copy the exact address but not very good with this sort of thing :sign03:
http://www.decs.sa.gov.au/portal/employmen...tpprerequisitesthey must have changed their rules I registered about a year ago and they accepted my visa police check.
Make sure you bring with you an up to date detailed reference stating length of service, experience, duties etc as this is your proof for what pay level you go onto and what sort of 'rating' you get by DECS.
Remember give yourself a bit of breathing space when you arrive don't try and do everything too quickly, you have to sort accomadation cars etc aswell and school hols start in 2 weeks for 2 weeks so you have plenty of time!
anyway good luck

If you were thinking of joining the Australian Education Union they offer the mandatory training for free if you are a member. I'm not sure how much it costs as I have joined as a student teacher and it only cost me $11. They have a course nearly every month, I did mine in April.
Regarding the First Aid it is now the BELLS course you need to do, not the FACS! Very confusing!

Thanks for that
I've managed to book a first aid course for the 6th july, the red cross were very helpful.
Only need to get my hubby sorted with the Australian Recognised Trade Cert :sigh:
