carryon - July 20, 2007 03:34 PM (GMT)
For christ sake!!!! Whats going on? Childline are empolying extra staff this weekend incase there is a flood of distraught kids who are upset by the ending of the latest Harry Potter novel....maybe there is a death of one of the major characters or something!! Bloody hell, pull yourself together kids!!!! it's a bloody book!!! Are children so wrapped up in cotten wool these days that this sort of crap happens? And the books only out tomorrow, so who the hell can read 600 odd pages in one day????? AGHHHH!
This sort of stuff really gets up my hooter!!!
Thank you
Had to vent my spleen on this one!

Yep got to agree with you.
My kids all love the Harry Potter films and my son has read all the books, but I don't think he will be Phoning Childline even if Harry dies
Parents, please explain to your children that its not real :D
well the flying around on a broom stick might be but the rest is all fiction. :ph43r:

Agree with the comments, but apparently Childline were unindated with callers the day that TAKE THAT originally split up. Honestly...parents should get a grip with their kids!

I think we've all stopped talking to each other! Parents don't have time to talk to their kids, there's no sitting around the dinner table chatting about what you've been reading lately or anything like that.
A big generalisation of course - but so many kids IMO are hungry for time with parents and mentors, and end up resorting to counsellors when they have an issue they need to discuss with someone.

Actually i was very upset when Mary Millington died, but i held it together and soon discovered the delights of Xavier Hollander!!! ;)
And yes i agree that it is the parents that wrap their kids in cotton wool, i go up the park with my two and sometimes shake my head in despair when i see a kid fall over , the complete over reaction of some parents, you would have thought the child had been shot!!!!!!!!!!!

From my experience you won't be getting that problem here.....you might even be the one worrying that the kids are being too daring and are bound to hurt themslves (usually whilst no-one is near to look out for them)

Thats what kids do! Throw themselves about and get a few battle scars, i know i did, all part of the learning process. Most kids react to the parents reaction, thus if the reaction is over the top then the childs reaction is likewise!
My dad always used to say to me and my brother, '' Your big enough and ugly enough to look after yourselves''..
No wonder i turned out like i have!!!!!!
