Title: Seaford Primary Schools

TRIMIX - July 25, 2007 09:01 PM (GMT)
We have brought a house in Seaford Meadows, but we are undecided which primary school to send our children to. I have heard horror stories about Seaford 6-12 but I cant find any up to date threads about primary schools. My two daughters are in year 3 and 5.

I have an appointment on Friday to visit Seaford K-7 Primary and Seaford Rise Primary but if anyone could give me any advice from their experiences it would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Hi
Got a son aged 10 at Seaford Rise Primary...he loves it, we have had no trouble with the school. It seems to be a very good little primary. They do lots of great lessons...and keep him interested and involved...

On the other hand I have twin 13 year old daughters at Seaford 6-12.....they love the school and have lots of good friends..the lessons don't seem very dificult when compared to the English schools..
The teachers seem more interested in the struggling kids and leave the bright ones to there own devices and then wonder why they get a bit bored..

They do a lot of talking the teachers...and seem very politically correct a bit to so..in our opinion..

But the girls love it and wouldn't go anywhere else..if they're bad I just threaten them with sending them to Tachachilla College...that seems to work..

Our two go to SRPS, and love it - made good friends quickly and are doing well. Beth will be starting at S 6-12, and from we've seen it looks good - will know more after she's been there I while :)

Dawn goes to the kindy attached to K7 primary and absolutely loves it. They are brilliant there and she cannot wait to go up to the primary in October :D

Seaford 6-12 high school used to have a bit of a reputation around here apparently but looking at recent newsclippings in the library it seems to have pulled itself together enough to earn the ttle of most improved school in Australia and now only hear good things about it there.

Just have a look around them and then decide with what you see :D

I would like to know who has filled your head with horror stories. Like Corker both my girls attend the school and they are both loving it and doing well. Most of the kids are friendly and the staff are really quite good.

I have a problem with cardijan college as it seems spelling is not a priority. The young girl at work wrote kiesh on a tub the other day, when i asked her what it said she replied quiche of course . I just thought it was a one off till my daughter was on the phone to another college girl and i asked her to spell quiche and she said exactly the same. when kia said how it was really spelt she said dont be silly that word is qweeshay................ need i say anymore.

You only have to look at how they spell "cardigan" :D

Hi, thanks for all your replies and those who PM'd me as well.

I was at Seaford swimming pool last week and I was talking to an Australian lady and explained we were moving to Seaford and asked if she knew anything about the schools and she said "dont send them to 6-12, the kids have no respect and think nothing of telling the teachers to :sign53: ". I know that it was a sweeping statement and probably should be taken with a pinch of salt, but its still a worry.

And of course some children get on great at one school whereas others dont settle at all. :help:

Hi we have 1 child in srp and 1 in seaford 6-12. Our youngest is in year 6 and has come on leaps and bounds since starting there. He has become a much more confident child and they seem big on respect and responsibility no matter what age the child is. I would have no problem recommending this school.
When my daughter started at 6-12 we weren't too sure about the school because like you we had heard some bad reports but I have to say that after nearly a year we think its a very good school. The teachers and staff are really good with the kids and as far as we can see they deal with any problems quickly and fairly. It might not seem as strict as the schools our kids have come from but believe me they do have a discipline procedure and they do use it(note not with my daughter-just in case she reads this). I have found that alot of the people that make comments about the school haven't even got kids there  and its on hearsay-i wish they would keep them to themselves as it can be very disheartening to the kids who are in the school and who love it. By all means everyone is entitled to their opinion but it should be based on fact and not tittle tattle. I'm sure every school has its own problems and its good and bad students but maybe this school needs a fair go and support from its local community-not to be compared to every private school in surrounding areas.
"dont send them to 6-12, the kids have no respect and think nothing of telling the teachers to :sign53: ". I know my children have respect because we taught it to them and I don't expect teachers to have to drum it into them if we as parents don't and I'm 100% sure they won't curse or be disrespectful to teachers because they would have us to face afterwards(and thats worst than any teacher :P) so at the end of the day whos the problem the school or the parents who allow their children to behave like this. As I'm sure you have guessed I think S6-12 is an excellent school.

Sue
