Title: Brisbane V Adelaide..............
Wonder Woman - August 27, 2007 08:55 AM (GMT)
After much research, decided on doing our reccie in brisbane/ goldcoast.
Spent 10 days driving around, meeting up with people, viewing new and old houses, schools etc etc. After day 7 , getting slightly fed up with what we were seeing , found a suburb that we ALL really liked, but the place itself (Brisbane) was not how we pictured it.
The place had a very American feel to it, took ages to get anywhere by car, lots of traffic and big roads, not what we or the kids wanted.
Plenty of work about for those in the building trade, ( O/H is a carpenter) but for us it just seems like a nice place to go for a holiday.
Day 9 saw us trotting off to the Flight Centre, and the next morning we set off for Adelaide,(our2nd) choice.
What a difference!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stayed in a hotel on the not so very nice side of town, and away we went.Didn't have much time(only 4 days) but straight away it had that "homely" feel to it, something that was missing in Brisbane, driving a lot easier, green trees and grass, reminded us of england 20 years ago!!!
Aberfoyle park, Blackwood, Flagstaff Hill, were some of the suburbs we visited and I could quite easily live in any of these or surrounding areas.
Didn't manage to get to nothern suburbs , but hopefully Ralph and Bev
will be able to fill us in with more info once they've been over in september.
House goes on the market this week, and it looks like we are Adelaide Bound!!!!! :yeehah:

Hi Wonderwoman,
Interesting to hear what you thought of Brisane, but especially Adelaide.
I'm also waiting to see what Ralph and Bev think of Adelaide, South as well as North. It would have been nice for us to go on a reccie, but it's not to be, so can't wait until Ralph and Bev go.
Adelaide just sounds like the place for us. Lets hope so :sign03:

Even thought Adelaide has been our first choice & have been here for 6 months, but my OH has been unable to secure a job, he applied for 100's of jobs, been register with every agencies in Adelaide, but to no avail, he applied for 3 jobs in Brisbane, got 2 interviews, & job offer on the spot with very high wages, so sometimes you've got to go with were the job is.
Hope you guys wont have much trouble finding jobs in Adelaide, good luck with your move, Adelaide is really lovely place to live, we are very sad that it didn’t work out for us.

No pressure....
Ralph and Bev are relying on me to give them an accurate view of the North East, a place to park their campervan and a good time. I can't wait to see what they think of Adelaide after I've finished with them hee hee :D :D :D
Seriously though I'm taking my tour guide duties very seriously, i've already got as many South Australian Red Wine brands that I can get my hands on.

I'm sure I can find a "window" in the tight schedule for you Di.
Now, if I can get the kids dropped off at school and get to the Airport in time to meet them off the plane, we'll be laughing.
Hopefully Ralph and Bev will still be mesmerised by all the different types of coffee Hudson's do to notice I'm a bit late.
Think I'll make the Airport in 3/4 of an hour from Modbury at 8.30 in the morning :D :D :D
