Just returned from Cairns after a week or so of R & R......well if the truth be known we came home for a rest
It is a lovely part of the world at certain times of the year but I'm afraid I don't think I could cope with the humidity, shame really.
Anyway the OH decided to join in with the Japanese and suffice to say spent most of his time behind a camera so I thought I would share some of his snaps with you.

Cairns Harbour.....time to dream of a lotto win. The Athena, pictured is the worlds largest sailing vessel.

The Lagoon, man made swimming area in the center of Cairns, no entry fees and maintained by the local council. Good choice rather than taking a dip across the otherside of the boardwalk into Trinity Inlet which is inhabited by estuarine crocs and stingers certain times of the year.

The Boardwalk, 2.5kms runs the entire length of the foreshore and is absolutely fantastic to work off all those pounds after a big brekkie or dinner.

Skyrail is definately a must do if your in Cairns, views are stunningly breath taking and you arrive into Kuaranda, almost like a tropical version of our Hahndorf. We were then able to catch the train back down into Cairns again an absolutely fabulous day out.

Red Peak Rainforest is situated a third of the way along the Skyrail journey.

Jungle Surfing in the Daintree, great fun until they dare you to surf upside down. Might share the upside down mpeg with you guys if I can work out how to do it on here!

Road to Cape Tribulation, words fail me on this one there is no wonder it has been World Heritage Listed. Simply awe inspiring.

Views from a Mission Beach headland, wish I could afford to live there.

Snorkelling off Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef, a really pretty spot. The only sand island on the GBR to have its own rainforest.

Unspoilt Beaches en route to Port Douglas, more commonly known as Sasha's Stretch ;)
Just a quick footnote for those of you intending to holiday up north, my advice is save, save, save because if you think little ol Adelaide is an expensive place to live you won't believe the cost of living in the tropics :sign68: in saying that there seems to be stacks of construction work going on.
