Title: My Fellow Country Men and Women

Lord Sistova - November 27, 2007 11:59 AM (GMT)
:help:

Now that that bloke known as "ME TWO ISM" has taken the reins I want to garner support from all you Brits out there who favour the Monarchy.

When the time comes to a debate whether this country becomes a republic or not,do not pander to the uneducated and simplistic approach by an already lazy media.

All the dross will be thrown load and clear, this system is out of date etc and there is no relevance anymore

In time honoured fashion,"iF IT AINT BROKE WHY FIX IT"

Britain has contributed vastly to this country for over a long period of time.Just think of the positive contributions just here in Adelaide ,wonderful buildings, schools, institutions all inspired and bought into fruition by our forefathers.

Can you imagine Australian's denouncing any constitution of theirs on the grounds of it doesn't suit another nation anymore?I think not.

If you remember only one major issue when then question comes which it will now Labor are in power.Do we want an Independent head of state with long held loyalty and strong ties with a new english speaking nation like Australia who has served so well over modern times?

Or do we want a political sycophantic head of state chosen by political patronage who no doubt will cost a lot more financially than the present system cost.

Those of you who are not keen on the monarchy remember this.

The monarchy is an institution and not an individual,it does not really matter who is on the throne at the time.It is the very essence of the idea of the institution that should be at the forefront of every Brit who now lives and contributes to this country.

A very real sense of loyalty to a system that although not perfect is better than most and has stood the test of time.

There are not many things that bind us Brits in an ever increasing global world.

We all know deep down that we are thankful of Britains positive influence in the world in times past and what we can still achieve and influence in the future.

Be proud of your mother country's accomplishments and support its positive institutions in their respectability and longevity over spin, todays news and tommorows fad soundbite and all that is wrong with conniving politicians who are really only interested in their own legacy.

Remeber who you are, where you came from, what our parents and grandparents fought and earned for over the years and have a profound sense of pride that in most parts of the world Britain and its institutions are still hugely respected for the very fact that they are tried and proven and in the most part envied and copied around the world.

Im having this same discussion on another forum and i agree if it aint broke why fix it. Being Aussie thru and thru I will still be voting to keep our history. I wouldnt want our flag changed either. Our men fought for it.

I've had this argument all year in my Legal Studies class :lol2:

I prefer the monarchy system, it just makes a lot more sense. The constitution prescribes the running of the commonwealth and the states, the three institutions of government. Prescribes everything down to what Queen is able to do etc.

Being a republic would further take in the american culture. I don't like it and prefer our constitutional monarchy.

Monarchy for me.

God save the queen.
