Title: New to forum
Description: introduction

nurse gladys - December 15, 2007 12:05 PM (GMT)
Just wanted to say Hi. I'm new to the forum after living here a couple of months now. Arrived in SA end of October 2007 and our feet haven't touched the ground! Myself, hubby and two girls have settled in the beautiful Highbury and love it (just renting at the moment). It'd be nice to catch up sometime with folk - anything going on after Christmas?

Welcome to the site, and welcome to Adelaide.

Not sure about anything going on after christmas, but just wanted to say "hi".

Hi think I may have just sent you a message on a different forum - using hubby's account at the moment (forgot my password) - we're up in Greenwith and only been here a few weeks ourselves. Christmas - can't quite get my head around it at the moment, christmas decs are up but somehow it doesn't feel quite right??.

Not sure about anything thats happening after christmas although I think there's a meet up in Adelaide 12/01/07.

Wouldn't mind catching up after christmas if your around for a coffee or something.

Hello Fellow Highburyian!

I'm down Historic Drive, where are you? Life is totally hectic at the moment with visitors and end of school term and christmas etc etc, but if I can help with anything, just shout!

If you're out and about in Linear Park and see a mad woman with a very fast border collie racing all over, and a small grey cat tagging along, that's me, so come and say hello!

Diane

Hi Diane,

I'm on Domain Commons - not too far away. I'm often along Linear Park, not so much since I spotted a brown snake in my path though

Hello and welcome :D

I'm in Hope Valley, next door to Highbury and am a nurse too. If you want any help with anything feel free to ask!!!

Nicola.

Hi Nicola,

Thanks for that.

I'm an Learning Disability Nurse, so I don't think you'll know of any jobs in my field of nursing. I'm doing a night shift tonight and tomorrow (voluntary) for a summer camp for kids with disabilities. Its pretty hectic this week. Watching some friends kids whilst she's at work so I'll try to squeeze some shopping in on Wednesday/Thursday maybe. Just signed up for that barbie at Glenelg on Friday - looks exciting!

Hi Nurse Gladys and family

Welcome to the forum ! It is quite addictive ! :D

We are not actually over quite yet and not sure where exactly we will be settling. We are counting the weeks - almost nine til we fly !!

I also work with people with a learning disability. I am currently a Social Worker in a learning disability Team but have also worked in some respite homes for both children and adults. The holiday camp should be fun !!

Have a great sunny Xmas and maybe see you sometime after we've found our feet !! :chuckle:

Hi Sally,

thanks for reply. I worked in a community team as well in England. Yeah, get in touch when you're settled.

I remember the weeks before we came out - felt like we were in limbo. Never mind it'll go over quickly and you can enjoy christmas and new year with your family and friends.

Diane

Aww you must have been really unlucky! I've been walking in the park just about every day for the last three and a half years and have never ONCE seen a snake there - although plenty of people tell me they are there, and one neighbour lost his dog to a snake bite in the reeds a few years back. Only brown snake I've seen was at Semaphore Beach in the dunes there. OH did see a beautiful red bellied black snake on the road that leads into the Wickes Estate though a year or so ago. I've seen the occasional lizard, lots of turtles in the pond, a couple of big fish and a yabbie in there - not to mention the occasional koala in the trees, and last year a couple of 'roos came down into the SA Water land by the aquaduct.

It must be my huge size 11 feet stamping up the path scaring all the snakes away, so if you ever fancy a walk with an accompanyng snake-scarer, let me know!

BTW - you might want to drop a PM to xcaretuk - she used to live here and work with disadvantaged kids somewhere locally - she's moved 'oop north' now but still somes on the forum occasionally.
