Description: plumbing

Hi there :)

My wife and i have just had the great news that we have been waiting so long for.
YES!! We have got our visa at last and now it is begining to sink in.
I am now in the situation that i feel that there are questions i want to ask with regards to work in Adelaide.
I am a plumber in the uk and have gained my skills over the years from doing the job, so as a result i have no qualifications but feel given the chance could do the job as well over there.
Can any kind person give me any info on this and if anyone has been in my situation, what they have done and how they are doing now.
I am willing to do any retraining that is required, but is this possible to do and work in plumbing whilst still training.
Be gratefull for any help on this.

Cheers Colin  :sign03:

Hi Colin,

Please contact the following person and he will give you all the answers as I have just had all my plumbing qualifications transfered recently.

Paul Hebbard
Lecturer
School of Plumbing Services
email: paul.hebbard@tafesa.edu.au

A very helpful chap that deals with all oversea's plumbing qualifications & experience and will also point you in the right direction. They really look favourably towards actual qualifications over experience so be prepared. They may get you to do a skills assessment and then put you on training courses to get you in line with aussie plumbers, these are all questions that you will need to ask Paul. The real drama even for qualified plumbers is when you turn up at OCBA (Office of Consumer & Business Affairs) to ask for your licence to work as a plumber... they will send you on a bit of a run around, so be prepared for that too!! However you do get there in the end!

Hope I've helped, any more questions please ask and I will try and find out for you,
