Hi ya all, we are moving over in april, may time and was just wondering what the work situation is for hairdressers and landscape gardeners? i know there has been a drought for a while and i am starting to panic a bit! time is closing in on us now and if i can`t find gardening work is there much call for labouring work, i have lots of experiance and years under my belt but no formal qualifications can anyone help?

Hairdressers always seem to be in demand, especially UK trained ones :)

As for gardeners in April/May - that is when winter sets in so there will be rain, the grass will be growing and will need mowing throughout the winter season, in fact everything will be growing and in need of all sorts of attention. Winter is the 'easy' season on plants here when they get most of their growing done, summer is the 'stress' season when they hang on tight and just try and make it through.

I can't really help you with how to get going as a business, unless you want to buy a Jim's Gardening franchise, but I think the time of year will be a bonus rather than a problem.

All the best with your move!

PS have you noticed this forum is moving - you might be better posting your questions on http://www.adelaide-brits.com as very shortly there won't be much activity on here...

Depending on where you decide to settle give me a call once your ready.
Had the builders in this year & the garden has been wrecked. Time to start from scratch. Might only be one job but help get you going.

My gardener (more correctly the landlords gardener) is a Jims Mowing man. He has a real whinge today when he came to cut the lawns on how busy he is. This isnt the first time he has mentioned it either.
