Hi
We are intending to take our dog with us to Adelaide, could someone tell us if they have taken their pets with them and if so was it very expensive and can they be kept in quarantine in Adelaide, did it cause many problems when looking for rental accommodation.

hi terry & rose
dogs cant be quarantined in adelaide im afraid, nearest is melbourne, thats where mine is right now.
as for cost, well it has cost me about 2000.gbp for a border collie.
if you look hard enough yu may get a better deal.
have not found a rental yet, but some will not have pets, although many do.

Guess we were lucky back in 91, our English Springer came out with us, 35 hours on the plane and into Quarantine in Adelaide for 8 weeks. Now its Melbourne, still thats not to far away.

Hi Sean,
Just realised from your post that you are in Adelaide.
Welcome!!!
When did you arrive, you kept it very quiet, if you need any help just give us a shout.
Are you going to the poms picnic, on Sunday?
All the best,
Tracey

Hi Terry and Rose,
We are also looking to take our 2 dogs and 1 cat with us and I must admit I had presumed there would be a quarantine kennels in Adelaide.
I am really concerned about rentals with them too it's hard to tell from the adverts on the web if they take them or not. Some say deffinate no, some say at owners discression and some don't say anything at all.
The at owners discression ones I tend to rule out as I think when they hear there will be 2 dobermanns and a moggy the answer will still be no!

Can anyone give us an idea as to how far it is from Adelaide to Melbourne and how long it would take by car?
Thanks Terri.xx

Hi - I looked this up for someone last week -
Apparently it's about 703 km....approx driving time between 8 and 11 hours.
By rail it looks as if it takes about 10 hours - and train goes there 4 times a week.
I will post a useful site in 'links' so that you can have a look. You will need to click on 'The Overland' for Adelaide to Melbourne.
I just did a search on'Google' for 'distance between Adelaide and Melbourne'. There are various sites worth looking at here. :spin:

Flying to Melbourne takes just over an hour and with Virgin, it costs in between, $150 to $230 return.
