Title: Dolphin Cruises on the Port River

We went on one of these on Sunday and although they don't guarentee you will see any dolphins we were lucky enough to see loads.

And we thought it was great value for money - $2.50 per person for an hour and a half. So even if you don't see any dolphins it's cheap enough to be able to do it again another time.

You don't need to book in advance just turn up at the Port- you purchase your tickets near to the lighthouse. And you can buy food and drink on the boat if you want to. Also it's not too long so even the youngest children won't get too bored.

Hi Karen,

There are very few places in Australia where you can swim with dolphins as legislation prevents this activity in a number of states.

In recent times Adelaide's local dolphin pod has had a protective order placed on their habitat.

There are a number of companies that do offer kayaking experiences around the pods habitat on the Port River, one Company that comes to mind is Blue Water Sea Kayaking. Their contact details are listed on the link below

Hope this helps,

Jet

I think you can still get in the water with them at a place called Monkey Mia on the west coast of WA but it is a long way to travel for the experience. I have been there you don't actually get to swim with them but you can stand in the water to about knee depth and they will come up to you for a feed of fish!
