Title: Anyone doing stopovers when you go?
Description: where are you stopping enroute -Adelaide

kevt - March 23, 2004 01:31 PM (GMT)
Myself and Kelly T have been talking about the day we finally head off on that one way ticket to Adelaide, about where to stop off to make a bit of a holiday of it.

Our two daughters will be 3 and 5 years old so we didn't think Disney in America would be worth paying all that money for with them not allowed on most rides.

We want to stop off probably in Sydney as well.

Anyone got any suggestions for maybe one more stop off?

Thanks
Kevin

Tasmania??? Only joking depending which way round we decide to go I would love Hawaii or Singapore. I think my preferred option would be Hawaii just as I've never had a gorgeous holiday to somewhere tropical like that before with the old palm trees waving drinking out of a coconut B) - knowing my luck it would be hurricane season though!

Roy quite likes the idea of doing a few island hops around the likes of Thailand to pick up a few supplies before we get to oz - I'm not too sure with the two kids in tow whether that would be such a wonderful experience! <_<

We are thinking of spending a few weeks in Phucket before our arrival in Adelaide.
Beatifull hotels, beaches, food and a great exchange rate are our main reasons.

Cheers. :thumbs up:

On my computer at work i have a countdown clock, till the day i emigrate, but i have had to guess the date.

The trouble is that is so far away yet that it makes me depressed when i look at it.

change it to the various stages then it won't seem so bad!

:) Hi Kevin

Hubby Tom has replied already as we are looking at stopping in Thailand, but have you considered Disneyland in California, youd only need 3-4 days as it similar to Eurodisney but if your little girls are into the disney princess'ess they will love it we went with our tribe and while the older ones went off with dad over to the other theme park called california adventure , my youngest and I went in search of Cinderella,Sleeping beauty,Belle etc you buy an autograph book and they sign it for you my little ones face, she really thought they were rthe real thing, also there are plenty of rides for younger children and the parades and fireworks at the end of the evening are lovely, if you wanted longer theres lots to see the beachs are wonderful you can hire a bike and cylce from venice beach to Malibu, Venice beach is really wacky not to be missed , we really liked it and I know its on the flight path

cheers for now
Donna, Tom & kids :)

We spent 4 days in California Disney and can back up everything Donna says - ours were still getting the autographs and photos aged 10 and 12!! Lots for little kids though, gentle rides and shows and so on. For a family of 4 we found we needed to budget £100 per day for food even self catering breakfast and lunch :( which was a bit scary and we were glad it was only 4 days.

We splashed out on arrival and spent 2 days on the Queen Mary then moved to a hotel in Anaheim walking distance from Disney. Happy to recommend both. The Anaheim one was a family suite with one room double bed and one room bunks, plus luckily a fridge to keep the breakfast milk in!

Our second stop was Fiji which was just absolutely wonderful. I tell you what, to save me writing an even longer essay go to our web pages at www.ozipom.com and take a look at our Disney and Fiji pages!! Fiji was cheap, relaxed, with beautiful, beautiful people and I'd recommend it to anyone. Perhaps not a lot to do with young kids but loads of beach to go fossicking along and just take it easy.

These are places we stayed:
Tambua Sands resort in Fiji http://tambuasandsfiji.com/
Queen Mary, Long Beach California http://www.queenmary.com/
Portofino Inn, Anaheim http://www.portofinoinnanaheim.com/

Hello There,
We are here and have just booked flights to uk for Xmas - don't promise your rellies this it is costing a bloody fortune as it is xmas!
The flights "home" seem different somehow the cheaper (but not the dangerous airlines !) are not via Singapoore and Dubi etc like on the way out, we were getting desperate 2 weeks ago when we booked (the travel agent worked really hard for 2hrs to get us 4 seats on the same plane without resorting to first class!)
So moral to the story is book returns for Xmas a full year in advance, but to return to the thread we are having to stop in Sydney, Tokyo, Copenhagen(wonderfull, wonderfull!) before Manchester- the alternative was Fin Air via Helsinky!!
Does anyone know what Tokyo airport is like- we have 10 hrs there!!
Cheers Diane!

Thank you for all of your replies.
Definitely given us a lot to think about, going to get some brochures and have a look for cost.
