Title: Storage In Adelaide

Elfin - March 25, 2004 09:27 AM (GMT)
Mr. Mover,

My hubby and I are hoping to be in Adelaide Oct '04 time.

We will be staying with his Uncle until we find somewhere of our own, it is our intention to have a 20' container and perhaps have this stored your end.

Is this an expensive idea! Or should we store here and ship once we get somewhere? Which agents have this facility?

Thanks

Tracey.

We used Crown Relocations based in the UK www.crownrelocations.com and also a branch here in Adelaide, it might be worth while getting a quote from these and letting them store it "if they do store". I know there's a few other places here too www.ustoreit.com.au "5 U-Store it branches in S.A" Kennards Self Storage www.kss.com.au Reynella LOCK-UP self storage www.lock-up.com.au

Plus about another 2 pages full of them in the Yellow Pages, just depends where your Uncle lives and where abouts you want to settle. We stored our shipping UK end for 3 months at a cost of £15 per week, get some quotes both ends and see what you think. Hope this helps

Hi Tracey
We used Bishop's Move. They would have stored for free in uk, I think for 6 weeks. Any storage over here was going to cost us a bomb. In the end we made a leisurely trip here with stops on the way in order to time things right, but our goods were 'stored' for free in Singapore for a month when we really wanted them here!!! <_<

One thing to bear in mind is that once here the removal agents here will normally deliver to either a storing facility or you house. If a storing facility, you will then need to sort our removal costs from that to your house.
But if you store it in uk and then have it shipped and it is then delayed, you are even longer without your stuff.
Have I just confused the matter, sorry :o
Rach

Thanks for that both of you. It might be a bit more affordable than I thought. Probably stay with Uncle for a while so hope not to be in a rush for stuff.

Also, storage here involved a lump sum for getting in in the first place, then a monthly fee so it was worth either avoiding altogether or doing for a decent length of time!

hi tracey, sorry i,m late in replying, all H.H.G [household goods] entering Australia, are taken from the containers, and held in a Bond store untill cleared by Aqis [quarantine] and customs, on clearing you will be contacted,by your removal company, as to delivery details. Now you can arrange your storage, either with your removal company or with independant storers..............mm

Can I ask all the people already out there how much it cost you for shipping? As you all seem to have used different shipping companies.

Thanks

Sasha :)

Hi Sasha
Our shipping cost around £4,500.
That was for a 40ft container, 3/4 full.

We got several quotes and first we discounted the lowest - this one was optimistically hoping to get all our stuff into a 20ft container then if anything didn't fit, to send it separately at vast cost. Then we discounted the highest - which was a shame as that would have had one of our nephews packing for us!

All the rest suggested similar volumes and weren't too different in price so we asked a few more questions then eliminated a co. that didn't seem too bothered in answering them for us. Eventually we settled on Bishops Move and are happy to recommend them.

Tracey

I've been recommended this shipping company:- Fox moving, 01633 866166. I have asked about storage as we plan to sell up before our visa is through and was quoted £10/ week per container.

Sasha :)
