Hi Sasha,

Booked ours the other day cost £375 each with Singapore Airlines, and I've heard thay are better then Qantas :what?:

Although this time of year is cheap anyway. But yes that is a good deal.

We flew BA and Qantas out here with stops in US and Fiji - we were happy enough with their service. BA had a few more fancy extras than Qantas but not a big deal.

Hi
We went to Sydney last year, using Malaysian Airlines. They were excellent, couldn't fault them whatsoever and would definitely use them again.
cheers

We are also flying Singapore Airlines.

Adult ticket £338
Child ticket £254

Airport taxes £47.10 each which also includes departure tax from Singapore.

2 nights overnight accom for all 5 of us in ajoining rooms at 4* hotel £148.00 (can you believe that) and a day room provided on the last day(handy for showers and a base as our flight to Adelaide departs 23.00)
Also includes transfers to and from Airport. Also includes Free entry into all major attractions(zoo night safari birdparks river cruises) and a Half price afternoon tea and Singapore Sling at Raffles. :mr man:

price also includes a free tourist bus to and from major attractions.

The airline will also forward check in your luggage so you dont have to carry it around in Singapore. :D

If this helps anyone you are able to check in some fragile items into a seperate hold packed in boxes.it does not go on with the suitcases and you collect your fragiles from a seperate pick up desk this counts as park of your baggage allowance.

Children have personal use of nintentoes and t.v's will lots and lots of kiddy films.

I booked direct with the airline and got the package cheaper than with E-bookers.

Also William at Singapore Airlines in Glasgow (tele no 0141 204 0656) was very helpful and gave us a lot more info than the run of the mill booking agent/internet site) He was fab.

Hi all

We came with Singapore airlines and they were excellent. Good sized seats (I believe they have the longest legroom of the standard class flights, although not a big deal for us as we are all short-arses), games consoles in the seats, movies etc and a constant supply of food and drinks.

I searched all over the net for the cheapest prices and probably found expedia.co.uk to have the best deals.

But, we were a bit uncertain of our flight dates when we wanted to book due to possible delays on the completion of our house sale and all of the "cheap" flight websites were not flxible on dates i.e. you fly that day or lose it.

In the end I phone Singapore airlines direct and bought the tickets from them, only £10 per head more than the cheapest website and fully flexible. Couldn't fault them.

Also, if you do have a short stopover in Changi airport at Singapore, we had 9 hours, pack your bathers in your hand luggage and use the rooftop pool. It is fantastic and just what you need after a 12 hour flight. Doesn't cost a great deal, towels included and it has a bar. Heavenly.

No experience of the other carriers as we have only done the journey once and in no rush to do it again.

Cheers

Rick

Because we're coming out in August it's costing us more - about £430 including taxes with Singapore Airlines. This was the cheapest and most direct route from Manchester and they've given us 40Kg luggage allowance each. The only problem is that we have to stopover in Singapore for about 14 hours. We are planning on getting a room at the airport hotel but want to know if it was cheap and easy to get to.

Hi Gillian and Sean,

If you're planning to stay in the airport, use the transit hotel upstairs. I booked a room for 3 people for 6 hours, cost me the equivalent of around £35 I think.

Well worth it to catch a few hours sleep and a shower before the next leg. You can extend for as many hours as you like. If you are there during the day, try to get on the free City bus tour which will pass a couple of hours away, and make sure you allow time to wander round all the shops in the airport. We had about the same time in between flights as you have, and actually we didn't fit in the City tour (two teenage shopaholics with me!); didn't matter though as we'd done it before.

I'd say it's well worth checking out what Travelbag have to offer before making a final decision. They are an Australia specialist so should have their ear to the ground for good deals. I used to work for a travel agent (business conferences) who used them all the time for Oz travel.

I have to say that reading this post reminds me why I am so addicted to this site as you are all so brilliant at coming up with the goods....THANK YOU.

Hubbie thinks I'm mad for spending so much time on this site but I do get to the point now where I don't phone my agent or do major researching as I just post a question on here and everyone always comes up trumps. :bouncing smiles:

Sasha :)
