I've done a search on the AQIS site and the only thing that comes up about golf is the golf tees as they may contain grass seed or fertilizer.
http://www.aqis.gov.au/icon32/asp/ex_casec...ext&intSearch=1as for bikes I think you just have to power jet wash them
http://www.aqis.gov.au/icon32/asp/ex_casec...ext&intSearch=1This is a good site for finding out what you can and can't bring in with you.

Here's the list of things they are concerned with when it comes to personal items
http://www.aqis.gov.au/icon32/asp/ex_casec...ext&intSearch=1This is another good webpage to look at about importing goods.

We brought out golf clubs, scooter and a garden swing all were very clean and had no probs with them, also make sure any shoes are free of dirt or mud !

We brought a load of outdoor stuff, bikes, garden tools, garden furniture.
We power washed them and then wiped them with Jeyes cleaning fluid (powerful disinfectant).
We just gave the shoes a good clean and wiped them with jeyes.
The stuff still stank of it when it arrived over here four months later.
The shippers will probably give you a list of things you can't bring, and you have write down what you have disinfected and the disinfectant used.

I steam cleaned bikes etc and our packers used a disinfectant spray and certified them as appropriately disinfected. No problem at all with AQIS this end.
We also brought tents, we scrubbed them inside and out on the kitchen floor, both groundsheets and tops, quite a game but it obviously paid off as no questions raised by AQIS there either.

Can I ask the one thing I'm interested in is wooden ornaments. I've checked out the AQIS site and they say all wooden stuff has to be treated does this mean EVERYTHING?? As I'm concerned after sorting through some of the junk from the attic we have loads of wooden bits and bobs.

ALL wooden items are supposed to be listed, though in practicality we didn't list things like wooden knife handles!! They are most worried about anything that might carry pests - woodworm plus other beetles and borers and things I suppose. Wood with bark on is absolutely not allowed. We tried to list just about everything and they didn't seem to check very much at all.
We tried to do everything just so with declaring things and cleaning them, and found we had no hassles at all this end - just the basic charge and nothing they decided needed treatment. That included fairly ordinary 'wooden' stuff like furniture plus a couple of carvings, boxes and things. Also woven cane laundry basket and shopping basket and the like.

PS just read yours again Sasha - no we didn't treat anything wooden, just declared on the form where it said.

OMG - write down everything that is wooden cry baby Roy used to carve as a hobby so I am surrounded by wooden ornaments, I've counted about 4 boxes so far and that's just the start of it! :68:
I'm still having a nightmare trying to sort through all the rubbish, in fact last night he decided to have a bonfire as we had so many old boxes stuffed in the attic and in his great wisdom thought he'd chuck on some old carpet - the smoke that came off was so bad he had to try and put it out, very worrying if you ever have a house fire....

Hi Sasha
I guess you could declare '4 boxes of wooden carvings'. I'd be tempted to label them clearly, chances are they'll check at least one then let it all through going by our experiences.
Mr Mover might be able to say more!

Hi Sasha
Elaine was right with her comment!
We've just had the shippers round to give quotes - apparently you need to make out lists for your own reference, with corresponding numbers on the boxes; then on the boxes and the shipping list you can write 'wooden ornaments', 'clothing', 'crockery', etc, etc.

I wouldn't risk anything or it will be confiscated. I know someone who brought a wooden game over as a gift and the customs really laid into them for not declaring it. Better to be safe than sorry.
I have a witches broomstick at my mums that I really want to be sent over to Australia, I think that will be a tough one to get over here but I haven't seen one as nice as mine. Maybe it could fly itself! :ph43r:

You're starting to scare me now! :o
Oh well it looks like I'll have to start writing as it will take me all year to get a list together of the bits and bobs. Daft really as I have just started to look at things not for their beauty but as to where spiders can lurk!
