Now our flights are booked we've started trying to decide what to take with us. I have loads of videos and just wondered whether anyone knows whether they'll work in Oz - same with our video recorder.

That's right, tapes from either side of the world will work in your machine. However, you may not be able to record as all the tv channels here are on different frequencies from in uk. :(

We found our tv was able to be switched to work here, our dvd player/recorder will only record Foxtel (satellite) channels and not standard ones, our video wouldn't touch any of it. So you might like to look into whether it's worth bringing out or disposing of over there, check with the manufacturer or whatever.

6 head video recorder costs about $150 and a dvd player about $150, don't bring yours not worth it.

whats the going rate for a multi region dvd that will play region 2 dvd's? or will i need to bring mine with me to play them on?

Hi videos and most electrical items will be ok here they will need different plugs thats all.Don`t buy again if you don`t have to. We left a lot of Live Aid videos in England when we left and we could have kicked ourselves as this is something that we could never get again. What I say is if in doubt bring it.
