Hi
I have just been looking on the Zone list for schools (http://www.decs.sa.gov.au/docs/files/communities/docman/1/Y8021_High_school_zones_01.pdf) an wondered if anyone has any comments about Adelaide High School.
Thanks

Hiya ,
Adelaide High School is avery good academic school . I have been in contact with the staff there and had talks with the Principal. I have also had a look around and really like it . Must say that my daughter was not thrilled with it as the uniform is quite ols fashioned , blazers ties etc !! :D
It is quite an old building (majority of buildings from 1930s and are National trust listed so cannot be modernised) It is an old fashioned style school ie , prefects etc and has a very good reputation . It is the areas only specialist language school and as such has a large proportion of "Asian" kids (English as 2nd language)
Thats the good news ..Bad news is that it is highly oversubscribed and it is almost impossible to get in without living in the zone or having a sponsered entry ie joining the cricket or rowing teams
I have applied for my daughter to attend for years 11/12 and have managed this due to her language skills (studied Spanish and French O level in UK but not offered at her current school Henley )
Hope this is of some help

On our recent reccie we visited adelaide high - great school but you do have to live within the catchment, which is a fairly small area. This also then means you will be living in the city. Over subscribed with 350+ pupils on waiting list we were told.
Hope this helps

Hi in reply to my previous posting , Adelaide High , have been in touch this week and informed me that it is now highly unlikely that they will have a place for my daughter . We have to wait until December after zoned kids , siblings and International students have been allocated places ....
NOW where do we go ?!!Maybe I need to get another job and send Meg private ! :sigh:

Yep the school told us of the waiting list, and showed the catchment area. Sorry!
:crying:
Visited Brighton, Henley Beach and Hallett Cove R -12 are also good schools with the bonus of the beach instead of city life.
:yeehah:
Also went to Christies and croydon - not so good.
