Hi Sharon,

Not too sure about the phone wiring internally within the phone but on my last visit to the UK I had no trouble plugging into the phone points with the cables my laptop had to use the internet.

You could try contacting www.telstra.com.au and asking the question if you can't get a definative answer via this site.

Good luck.

Jet

The plug is physically different but if you buy the Oz one you might well find (as we did) that it still doesn't work as it's wired differently.... however I have seen someone else on here say they did get theirs to work so your guess is as good as mine overall

Our external modem was also useless over here, but no probs with internal ones.

We brought three telephones with us a cordless dect phone and two standard type desktops. I converted all three to Oz RJ11 plugs. The dect phone works ok the other two are now paperweights. I have tried all combinations of wiring and they will not accept the Oz telephone system.

The moral of this post is bring them as it will not cost you any more and youy can always use them as paper weights if they do not work.

The price of a cordless dect phone here is around $49.00 so it is not the end of the world if you have to buy one.

Thanks Jet, Elaine , Ian for your replies will deffo take ours and like you say either use them for paper weights or give them to someones little one to play with if they dont work.

Hi All

If its any use my husband is currently a BT engineer and he reckons that we are going to be taking all of our phones. Apart from changing the connection he cannot see why they would not work.

Regards

Kay

I do know someone here who painstakingly rewired all the little wires in his fax machine to make it work - there's deffo something different with the wiring here.
