Title: XXX ---> (.)XXX

Bryan - June 2, 2005 04:35 PM (GMT)
According to this article found on google,
http://weblog.physorg.com/news2027.html

Pornographic domains will be able to purchase their own domain name, instead of .com. it will be .xxx.

This may get people interested in passing a law. all porn on .xxx domains.
its all a tough situation when such a conversion happens. Id like to see some one put the smack down on them though.

true that...I tired of going to old haunt and finding porn :o I can't believe I said that but it is true. This is one thing congress should get behind. How do we get congress involved ?

**Wait for Jack or cmg to answer ....** anyone ?

If at least 100 people from each congressional district in each state say something to their representative, the word will get around. I say start an online petition.

Since I don't really do the porn thing, this issue doesn't matter to me one way or the other. But...

What difference would this law make?

As a matter of fact, if there was a whole new ".xxx" domain suffix, that first step in regulation would definitely present the opportunity for restriction. That could be a good thing or bad, depending which side you're on. Or, lets say for all the pornmongers out there... what if the gov't decides to set up a tax or fee for visiting ".xxx" domains? There ARE many politicians who want to regulate and tax porn, anyway... and it could very well be a slippery slope to taxing the crap out of the rest of our internet access.

I'll just say this: In everything, you can't have freedom (or privacy) AND government involvement.

...and Congress would have NO part in making it easier for you to find places for porn, D. :lmao:

I don't think it is a matter of making it easier to find it (but it does) that is would be easier to regulate and control. Or at least that is what I saw it to do at first.

I didn't mean I go looking for porn ;) umm I meant. Alot of old anime site url ends up as webrings for porn. for example: www.xeroanime.com, remeber who url this used to be.

.XXX would help with the porn pop up when going to certain .com address A little order to the maddness of the net. there alway a good side and bad side to anything.

Porn domain faces further delays
A final decision on the controversial .xxx domain has been delayed again.

The domain for sex sites was approved in June and final negotiations over how it should be run were due to conclude in early December.

This latest delay is because the net body that oversees the creation of new domains said it needed more time to review a report on .xxx before granting final approval.

No date was given for when the review of the report would be completed.

Slow start

The idea for an .xxx domain was first floated in 2001 and since then has gradually inched towards approval.

The domain was widely expected to achieve final approval at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann) meeting held in Vancouver from 30 November to 4 December.

However, Icann chairman Vint Cerf unexpectedly announced at the meeting that the decision was being delayed as the organisation and governments wanted more time to argue about the merits of setting up such a domain.

Icann is waiting for a report from its own Governmental Advisory Committee on .xxx that a review committee had yet to read and decide upon. No timetable was given for when the work of this committee would be finished.

In August, the final decision was postponed following a request from the US Department of Commerce which had "concerns" about the domain.

Plans for the .xxx have been criticised by many people and organisations, among them former Icann board member Karl Auerbach and US conservative religious groups, including the Family Research Council.

ICM Registry, the company that proposed and plans to run the .xxx, said the domain would make it easier to find and filter pornographic material online.

Critics said that because signing up for .xxx was voluntary, there was no guarantee pornographers would move material to the new domain, not least because many have established themselves on other well-known sites.

Yo dats a sick idea.

I think theyshoulda done somthing like dis long ago, before 2001.

Now its will be easier ta catch kids goin to them sites.

They spent so much time tryin ta get porn off da net, dat they never thought of a way ta "contain" it. A separate domain is an excellent idea. Come on, whats da hold up. Hahahahahahahahahahaaaaa

Acidius - December 9, 2005 08:23 PM (GMT)
There is no incentive for porn site to leave domain where they get tons of hits already. Someone most likey the goverment has to off them a deal to move over to the new .xxx domain.

Till them most likely they will stay where they are. Unless there a law made banning them from anything but the .xxx domain.

But that will be illegal and unconstitional.

Jack Blaguar - December 10, 2005 08:48 PM (GMT)
How's it unconstitutional or illegal?

You assume it would be unconstitutional, but nothing is being banned from existence, it would simply be ercategorized. Nothing illegal or unconstitutional about classifying porn as porn.

. com or .xxx , it doesn't really matter to me.

4th Noun - February 17, 2006 02:39 AM (GMT)
It's definitely a good idea.

.xxx would be a better classification. Lets hope it becomes reality.

John - February 17, 2006 08:13 PM (GMT)
It doesn't really bother me, since im done with porn and $#!%.

I got my new windows xp, and ill be damned if i get spyware on it.

4th Noun - February 17, 2006 08:33 PM (GMT)
You mean internet porn right.

Until that old PC gets hooked up. LOL

What I want to know is, if someone has some porn bookmarks and they change the .com to .xxx, will those domains automatically adjust, or will they have to reset their marks?

That would suck to have to redo any marks you had, especially if you had alot.

John - February 20, 2006 05:08 PM (GMT)
Why dont you try?

Dont wanna mess up you porno collection ?

lol. :P

4th Noun - February 23, 2006 07:41 PM (GMT)
Try what?

Mess up my porno collection!?! My collection isnt on my computer. This doesnt affect me at all.

So is there any new info on this?
