Korean Video iPod
Thursday, September 29, 2005

The Viliv P1, it's small, nice looking and compact. Looks like the handsome offspring of the PSP and ipod. It's got FM radio/recorder, USB port and a six hour video battery. Looks good, lets just see if they actually sell it in the US and for how much. So what do I have to do to get a review copy folks?
I am not sure if Korean PMPEvent had in mind to create a portable video player that strongly reminds on the Apple iPod, or if its just my impression.

Still the viliv P1 is quite interesting. It is supposed to feature an all Macromedia Flash UI (see photo below) and a 20GB hard-drive. Another Apple iPod similarity is the click wheel.

The portable media player measures 161.0mm X 74.0mm X 18.0mm and weighs 250g. The screen is 4" with a QVGA resolution. The viliv P1 plays WMV, DivX video, mp3, wma and ogg audio and displays jpgs, png and bmps. Other features include, FM-Tuner, FM-Transmitter and 5.1 Audio output.

Of course no information on when this advanced PMP will hit stores. This PMP is based on the feature list and specifications pretty impressive. More Details(if you speak the language)

Can say I didn't see it coming. But it is innovative. It it can accept umd's I would be sold on it. Cause I not feelin' the psp's games.

Thoughts ?

Well, I don't know what to think. They chose to advertise Ep. III on the screen. (Oh, can we just go download a copy of Ep.III and watch it on this?) They only mention WMV and DivX.

*shrug*

The UMD should iether become a mainstream portable media or they should do away with it. If they only play those 2 formats, the only Star Wars most ppl are likely to see is "Star Wars Kid"... if you can even find those anymore.

Well, Sony is trying to make UMDs catch on with the PSP. The more people buy it the moere popular UMDs will be. We're going to have to wait another year before any decisions can be made on UMDs.

As far as portable gaming with movies goes, I'll wait to see if Nintendos gonna come out with something, if not PSP, come down in price, and I'll get one.

Unfortunately for you D, the PSP was made for PS2 fans, so if you dont already own the PS2 versions of the PSPs titles then you have no real interest in getting one for the games. Another bone-head move by Sony. But hopefully Nintendo is making steps to change these limitations.

I think they advertised Ep.III because its getting ready to come out. Its just like when you look in the Wal-Mart paper and see the tvs being advertised and theyre all showing the newst release.

LOL ... Probably so, but it's silly to advertise a movie on something you can't even watch it on.

Silliness, I say!

LOL

Dats funny yo.

Maybe it will be on one of those formats soon.

UMD will soon be da new craze. Like 4th said, just give it some time. Who else besides Sony is usin it right now?

All I know is that it isn't out yet, and the nanos are still the biggest thing.
Had 4 people come up to me in the 3 minutes i was standing in the mp3 player section of best buy and ask me if we had any nanos. I had to tell all of them no.

As everyone including your mom guessed, the big announcement from Apple today involved a video iPod. The 2.5", 320 x 240 screen looks super-sweet, it comes with a video-out jack for playback on your TV, and episodes of Desperate Housewives cost $1.99 (they should really be paying us to watch 'em, but that's another post).

Little is "in" this year.

For the last time I am an all around gamer. I like Sony , Nintendo and Microsoft, Sega and so on. I had the first and will have the last. Just because I critize a system or a person doesn't mean I don't like it or them. Unless I say so.

I just think Sony could do much more with PSP than they have....I critize them all but I have seem to have a big beef with sony and the rest a little. But if I was giving a PSP I find a game to play it. And would take care of it like gold.

I know that, but what I was saying

Meaning the devotees who live by the PS2. Im not saying you dont like the PS2, but i am saying that you dont currently own a PS2 and hadnt really even heard of games like The Getaway or Katamari Damacy. Ive heard your Sony criticism, and understand you dont have a love for the system that Sony would like you to have.

Dont just cut a line when theres more relevant information in the paragraph. I was remarking on how Sony decided to make plenty of sequels and not original games. How much interest have you expressed in any of the titles?

Why you were so offended by this remark is beyond me. I guess I should have said for the hardcore PS2 fan. Oh wait...youre one of those too...never mind. Ive already said too much.

I beleive dis is what the whole arguement came from.

4th was just commentin on why your not feelin da games. He didnt say that you didnt like Sony, just dat not being a super PS2 fanboy like myself, and having an extensive collection of PS2 games is a reason youre not feelin da titles.

It wasnt a personal attack, just some lighting to a path of reason.

4th you gotta stop takin peoples comments for what theyre worth. Not everyone writes like you do and explains their reasoning and feelings in their posts. SSometimes its just comments. I know you write like you talk, so you say exactly whats on your mind. That doesnt apply ta everyone, and you shouldnt apply it ta everyone.
