Not only do I reccomend this, but so does Most of the people on Tech TV. They said, "if it matters, you should use Fire Fox Regardless of why. If its any consolation at all, not only are we telling you you should, but so is the federal government."
Remember. FREE!!!!!
http://www.mozilla.org/what other reason do you need to switch?
Wanna get rid of spyware for good? use Firefox

I love firefox. I even managed to get used to using tabs insted of multiple windows, lol.
Just remember, that you need to get a different flash player for firefox.
FoofighterX - September 1, 2004 03:29 AM (GMT)
and thats another thing.
I remember jared being like, holy crap crazy browser is awesome cause it does tha tab thing. But fire fox does to, except fire fox is netscape, and crazy browser is IE with a different interface. Still is able to accept spyware.
Texillin - October 21, 2004 04:51 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I have heard that it is good to use too. Some guy I know from Dell suggest people use it too.
But I still like Crazy Browser....the name alone beats fire fox to the ground :P
Bryan - November 7, 2004 11:46 PM (GMT)
crazy browser doenst protect against ad/ spy ware ;-) and that could be why your computer is running the speed of dial up ;-)
Texillin - November 8, 2004 04:26 AM (GMT)
nah...thats why I have adaware...good stuff
I am using fire fox now but...I do miss my crazy crazy browser...*sigh*
The way the tabs works still bug me though...you have to open a new tab and then type in the web address...unlike CB where you just put in a new URL and boom a new tab awaits. Or clicking a link....thats the same way
But Fire Fox looks better then CB...kinda. Not sure if that is because I am using it on XP or not. Eh....Whatever
Bryan - November 8, 2004 04:43 AM (GMT)
theres a canadian skin :-D
Texillin - November 21, 2004 04:58 AM (GMT)
Okay, firefox has offically won me over. It is the best browser I have used by far. Why all of a suden you ask? One word....extensions.
Awesome. If you have firefox just click tools...and extensions. Then click get more extensions and it will take you to their update website. There are a bunch of them. So just look around a bit and read and see which ones would help you out. Here is a article about them...well just telling you which ones you should get.
G4TechTV - Firefox ExtensionsThere is one you SHOULD really get. It is so freaking awesome...BugMeNot. This one just allows you to sign into a bunch of different website that require you to register before you go in. ITS AWESOME :biggrinbounce:
Also, if you don't have firefox or don't want to get it for some reason. Goto
BugMeNot. It works that way too. Enjoy

I did it. I downloaded it, and I really like it so far.
I also confirmed the answer to a previously mentioned problem with the colors around admin names. Fire Fox does not show those text effects. I'll watch for other compatibility issues. ;)

Firefox Entering The Mainstream
By Antone GonsalvesFri Jun 10, 4:31 PM ET
Firefox is gradually moving into the mainstream in the United States, as the open-source newcomer approaches 10 percent of the browser market, mostly at the expense of Microsoft's Internet Explorer, a website monitoring firm said Friday.
The Mozilla Foundation's Firefox reached 8 percent of the market by the end of May, up from 7.38 percent in April, NetApplications, based in Aliso Viejo, Calif., reported. Since October, Firefox has gained between .5 to 1 percent each month, while IE has dropped.
Other web metrics suppliers have also reported steady growth, but some say they are seeing Firefox adoption slow a bit, following the spurt in the first few months after the 1.0 release in November.
Nevertheless, once the browser grabs 10 percent of the market, then it becomes mainstream and no longer a technology only used by Mozilla and open-source software fans or the anything-but-Microsoft crowd.
"When you hit 10 percent market share, you start to crossover from diehard Firefox users to a broader percentage of the market," Dan Shapero, chief operating officer of NetApplications, said. "It means there's others besides Mozilla fans adopting Firefox."
If one considers Microsoft customers "mainstream" consumers, not just technology buffs, then Firefox's gains are telling, Shapero said.
"They're clearly tapping into Microsoft's base," he said.
While Firefox gained in May, IE's market share fell .77 percent from April to 87.23 percent. Most other browsers saw little change in May, with the exception of Safari, which gained a modest tenth of a percent to 1.91 percent, according to NetApplications, which monitors traffic at more than 40,000 websites.
Market share numbers for IE and Firefox, however, vary substantially among web metrics firms. At the end of April, the latest numbers available, Firefox had 6.75 percent of the U.S. market, according to WebSideStory. Amsterdam-based OneStat pegged the number at 8.7 percent.
The French firm XiTi reported that Firefox had a 14 percent share in the U.S. and 14.1 percent in Europe at the end of May. |
Cool...

UPDATES
| QUOTE |
On Tuesday 29th November, Mozilla is expected to release it's final version of Firefox 1.5 - it's open source, free web browser. Chris Beard, vice president of products at the Mozilla Corporation had this to say about the release (amonst other things):
Quote: "The release of Firefox 1.5 marks a big overhaul of the browsing "engine" inside the program"
Mozilla has had a brilliant year, not long ago celebrating 100 million downloads. It is now believed that 10% of the on-line community use Firefox, with an estimated 50-60 million regular users. Microsoft's Internet Explorer still holds the cards however, with a current 85% market share.
As soon as it's released publically today, you'll find FireFox 1.5 at The Official Mozilla Firefox Site. For more information, checkout BBC Technology News, and remember to send everyone you know to www.getfirefox.com !
