dark angel - February 3, 2005 03:00 AM (GMT)
okay first of all here is a list of what i think are some of the worst animes i have seen

* pokemon - ugh - a series
*Dragon ball - this is has very bad animation and all its about is a young goku who acts like a dumb monkey - a series
* Digimon - ugh a series and also a stupid rip off of pokemon
* Yugi -oh - ugh a series
* um i think this one was called Robin the witch or something like that and its a series
* oh yes and there was this movie about an anime lesbian whom become the girlfreind of this other anime lesibain .it was called rose heart or something like that - AWFUL MOVIE
* food ons - a series about basically a rip off of pokemon except they use food characters
this is a short list of some of what i think are bad animes , well tell me what you think about it or what your list of bad animes would be . and i have seen alot of animes that are basically just stupid and rip offs of pokemon . this one show called duel masters is also a rip off but of Yugi-Oh its pretty obivious , and its not good but not like really bad .

Dragon Ball - Goku IS a monkey! It's their rendition (and then strayed and totally changed) of Goku, the monkey king, who was a god.

Digimon actually came first... but didn't hit the US until AFTER Pokemon

And since we're all anime freaks here... everyone here knows what is and isn't a series. and saying that you hate it and it's "Ugh" doesn't say much. WHY do you hate these shows?

Pokemon is a cartoon based off the video game (Yes, it came first) and it's for kids, which is why it's kiddish... Digimon is kiddish too

Yu-gi-oh American made... Americans wanted some of that Pokemon pie. Game came first I believe. Still kiddish.

I liked Witch Hunter Robin. I found it interesting actually.

I haven't seen the other two.. but I think you might've found a hentai anime.

dark angel - February 3, 2005 04:42 AM (GMT)
well i just simply think that the so called kiddish animes are balony and i dont care if they are kiddish they still arent' that great . and well okay give more setail now

first of all i do happen to think that dragon ball z and dragon ball GT are good and not bad , its just that dragon ball in my opion just basically had like really bad animation , i mean it does ! and well goku as a kid is too silly for me , and its' just the way they all talk ! i mean its like driving me crazy here ! and like it wasnt' that intresting , all goku did was say silly things and make these weird fighting noises and the evil characters are just PLAIN CORNY . im sorry but to me its a really corny show . im sorry if anyone disagrees but it s just annoying to me . though goku is funny its just the animation of it is scary , i mean its so bad that it scares me away .

okay i dont like sailor moon because well that blondes' name sebrina or something , well she whines too much and its just the whole thing about the song...oh the song ! god i hate it ! i used to hear it all the time , and it drives me nuts . now i dont ' like the series but this one salior moon movie was okay and wasnt' as bad to me as the series , and had better quality animation -well duh its a movie , was better . mainly i also did not like the plot of the story that much , well to me its not my cup of tea . what can you say . now this show used to be so popular but as i found out they stopped shwing it for a certain reason , i think it was because it was the schedule of the shows they had shown , and they didnt' have per say enough ratings to squeze it in there .

now pokemon ! okay i hate the goofyness , i hate the animals , i hate ash Ketchem for stealing my nick name ! well okay i guess a clue wolud be my nick name is ash in real life . but anyways its mainly how goofy and nieve they all act , and the fact Pikachu is well pikachu . and uh i cant stand team rocket , they try to be EVIL but they are so cluless and nieve that they dont' even know what true EVIL is - ( heh heh ) and that is why i dont like pokemon ! and pokemon pie tatse awful made some myself and it tastes like crap just like the series . <_<

now for yugi oh ! this was not the worst but i dont' like it because of yugis hair ! i dont think that pink , black or yellow make a good hairstyle and it is simply to d*** hard to draw for me at least . and the whole saying they had in the show. "have you re' heart in the cards "or something like that well that was stupid , it was like they were saying belive in the cards like a religion and made it sound like their whole lives depened on it or something you know ? well maybe thats just me but i thought the whole idea of the show was stupid and just one big gimic for kids to see and idolize . also the theme song is annoying to me , and the fact that yugi all he did in the show was play duels with monster cards , im not into monster cards , and i just thought the whole concept of just dueling with cards was boring .

mkay i dont like the heart love movie because for me as a chick to see two anime girls be in love and do nasty things is not very pleasent for me with my eyes to see . it was too racy and based the whole theme on sex too much and was just to much for me to handle . i hate anime movies with any sex or nakid scenes . it simply disgusts me alot .

and the robin one well the animation wasnt' all that great and from what i saw it had nothing going on . its that simple for this one but it wasnt' that bad .

okay food ons total rip off of pokemon and digimon and of course to kidy and goofy and yet again bad animation , and the whole plot was about the food monsters whom made strange noises and squeaked around !

digimon - same exact reasonn as food ons and also because i just cant stand goofy anime or kidy anime , it was the whole idea that was a bit confusing not much and the characters didnt' seem very realistic , intresting or have good personalities .i like teenage and adult anime thank you very much ! and those are my reasons PHD thank you for asking a fellow anime freak B) oh yeah and this anmie called dot hack sign its good but wayyyyyyyy too confusing , i mean its really confusing and too much is going on . i like the concept and theme though .

PHD - February 3, 2005 06:55 AM (GMT)
::Laughs::

Yea, I think the Heart anime was a hentai (anime porn). I try to stay away from those myself. If an anime is rated 17 and up... you can expect some sex themes.

As to Sailor Moon... the reason why they stopped showing it on TV was definitely NOT scheduling... The second season showed the other sailors (from the outer planets), and two were a lesbian couple. Then in a later season there were other sailors which were men... until they transformed.. Crazy stuff.

The kiddish animes is exactly as it's for... kids. Being more adult in age, it's harder to like the kid animes. But that's understandable.

It's funny how most of those shows I actually watched with a passion at one point or another. I suppose it depends on your tastes and values. Anyway a show that I really could not stand was Devilman Lady. I could not sit through all of the show but I really could not connect with the characters at all. I basically sat there and didn't care that the main character transformed into a beast like demon killer. I didn't particularly like the animation style either. Style comes second in my priority list. For example Sailor Moon (which most of you in here dread) had some rough animation at first. If you stuck around one would see that it got way better by the time Sailor Stars came. One would think after 120 episodes the animation woudl improve. Yes it had lesbians but it was nothing like that hentai you discribed. As far as Uranus and Neptune they did it subtly. It was more flirtatous. Heck Xena had more lesbian acts than Sailor Moon did. The most you got on SM was a hand hold and witty comments. As far as Sailor Stars there wasn't anything sexual about them changing gender. They just did it to grant access to more fields to find who they were searching for better. That's all. Now I digress. I'm at the stage in life where most anime I don't dispise. Like Yugioh I wouldn't watch but if I was forced to I could probably still tolerate it enough not to throw something at the tv.

dark angel - February 3, 2005 10:27 PM (GMT)
WELL personally i dont hate yugi to death but seriously its stupid and useless for me ! and it was a big Gimic it seemed like . and well as for sailor moon i havent' a clue wha thappens at the end of the series , and nver have heard of it having anything to do with gay lesbians . and i to when i was little watched all kinds of stuff like that , but when you think about its exactly the same as a 4 year old watching barney and then when they are 12 it burns thier eyes and cant' stand it . and watching pokemon is exactly like that . <_< but also i must add this moivie i saw to the list . okay first off it was called Ghost in the shell . this was the first movie and it isnt' the series . well what i didnt' like about it was how it took forever for somethin intresting or appealing to happen . it was just too slow moving and boring . and even when something finally happened it wasnt' exciting . i liked the whole idea of the film and theme , it was orginal , but when it came to conflicts it was boring .and i would throw something at the tv as well while watching yugi oh - but pokemon for me is even worse . Ash ketchem is like so a pokemon poser <_< lol * pokemon poser * :P

Well, my personal least favored anime (excluding some hentai, of course) would have to be Saiyuki. It's strange. Fangirls seem to really love this series. I couldn't sit through the first episode. And don't tell me it's because it's made for girls. I sat through plenty of other shoujo animes before and could at least tolerate them. Hell, I can even stand to watch Prince of Tennis for longer than Siyuki.

Something about Siyuki really gets to me. It might be the corny lines that they get, or possibly the horrible character models. Maybe it's the poor animation, or the cheesy DBZ-esk super powers they have (I know they're based on the same myth). It could be all the sub-text that only stays sub-text because they want to leave fanfic material. I don't know.

People tell me that second season is way better and that the seasons just get better as they go. I can understand this since they really had nowhere to go but up from the first disk (which is all I could stand to watch). So maybe I'll skip a few seasons and see what it's like. Maybe the new Siyuki will be better. At least enough so that I'm not convulsing from listening to the corny dialog (no, I'm wasn't watching it dubbed).

PHD - February 4, 2005 01:25 AM (GMT)
I wasn't saying Sailor Moon was Hentai... I was stating that the public channels stopped showing Sailor Moon because of the gay/lesbian theme.

I agree on Devil Lady.. it was okay.. but really all that interesting... Messed up ending though! But hey, whatever.

Ghost in the Shell is a good anime.. That movie is not about the action, but more about the story. It's one of those mindscrew animes. To fully get everything in that anime, you have to use your brain to a larger extent than normal, which can sometimes hurt (hence, mindscrew) Other mindscrew animes: Neon Genesis Evangelion (to achieve full mindscrew, ignore the last episode in the series, then watch both movies), also Lain.

Saiyuki... I love that anime! The first disc was probably the worst, the first episode was definitely the worst. That just had the worst dialogue. I did watch Saiyuki dubbed. Since it is made to be a mockery, I figured dubbed would be better for the more americanized jokes. Sometimes when the jokes are more americanized, the series is funnier.

dark angel - February 4, 2005 01:36 AM (GMT)
hmmmm i never thought of gosht in the shell as a mindscrew one before .. i luv any kinds of twisted or dark animes though like this anime movie called X . maybe some of you will say its crapy...but ohwell .

PHD - February 4, 2005 02:15 AM (GMT)
You're always going to find at least one person who's going to say that what you like sucks... It's a part of diversity. If everyone liked the same exact things, life would be boring.

I haven't seen X yet.. Perhaps I need to rent it..

Cornfed - February 4, 2005 05:06 AM (GMT)
If you want X, then get the series. The movie was CLAMP's first full length movie thing. They started doing it before the manga was even half way through.

First off, in the movie, they killed Subaru and Seishiro right off the bat. Fans speculate that that was because they didn't want them to steal the show (cuz they would have, and did).

Second, they had a character that was never in the manga. When the movie came out, people didn't know who the hell he was. The movie was missing a character and the fan didn't understand.

Third, it's just an hour and a half kill fest. Granted, ithat doesn't mean it's bad, but the series is much deeper and a lot more disturbing later on.

In short, the movie is ok, but the series blows it out of the water.

PHD - February 4, 2005 06:07 AM (GMT)
I'll probably still watch the movie, just because it's still kind of part of the whole. For the series, I think I have to wait for my fiance, since I think he owns it all. Or maybe I can rent it, I'd have to look. Or I could just wait until I take leave and watch it with my guy, since watching anime in company of others is always more fun.

Cornfed - February 5, 2005 10:11 AM (GMT)
Agreed, watching in the company of others is more fun. Unless you watch it with my friends, who either watch animes that drive me crazy, talk during the entire thing, or laugh at inapropriate times. I hate my friends...stupid anime about bread...

PHD - February 5, 2005 01:21 PM (GMT)
Anime about bread??

I know the Koreans made an anime about dog poop.... but I don't know the anime about bread...

Cornfed - February 5, 2005 11:11 PM (GMT)
Yakitate!! Japan. It's about bread. It's all about bread. The first scene has knights fighting with loaves of bread.

lilgumba - February 6, 2005 06:34 PM (GMT)
Oh the bread anime wasn't so bad...at least what I have seen. X the movie is much worse. However, X the movie is so bad that it will make you really appreciate the show so watch it first.

PHD - February 6, 2005 10:08 PM (GMT)
Knights fighting with bread?? LOL That sounds like it'd be perfect to MST with a group of friends. Or, if it has the option (like Ah My Goddess), select to watch it with only the sounds, and no voices, and make your own dialogue (and of course record it for later laughs).

I might have to watch that just for the laughs.

dark angel - February 6, 2005 10:13 PM (GMT)
sighs yeah i know i knew someone would say that x is crapy everyone almost thinks that <_<
and whats with dog poop and bread anime ? i wouldnt watch that and geez x is not that bad ..

QUOTE (PHD @ Feb 2 2005, 07:53 PM)
Yu-gi-oh American made...  Americans wanted some of that Pokemon pie.  Game came first I believe.  Still kiddish.

Yugioh was a manga quite some time ago.
The card game was inspired by that.
The anime is only losely based on the manga and appears created to premote the card game.

In the Manga the trading card game was just one of many games Yugi played.
He had a vertual pet, He played an RPG , He plaiyed a chess based game.
When left to his own devices the spirit makes up games with available resorces.

The TV series is translated by a company called 4Kids and they edited the show considerably for american kids.

As it is now the show is far departed from the original Manga.

Yugiohs author based Dual Monsters on the american trading card game "Magic The Gathering".

Edit:
By the way the Manga isn't very good. It's mostly the same story over and over.
Yugi gets into a new game, an evil gammer challanages him (threatons him usually) usually cheats. The sprit of the puzzle gets ticked and when Yugi wins to spite the odds the spirit makes the opponent play a pentalty game at stake is the villens sanity.
Then Yugi looks for annother game.

WHR and GitS rock, they're just not for everyone. They might be too slow in parts for some people. Lain and the as yet unmentioned Perfect Blue are great, but again, not for everyone (both kind of "mind-screw" although another viewing may help).

I had X (the movie), it was ok (but gave my copy away n.n lol), the manga (what little I'd read) was better and the series (which I still need to finish) rocks, spiffy OP song too.

Never watched Yugioh, although I do have some raw eps around here somewhere I've yet to watch.

Ah, and Sailor Moon, for the longest while I couldn't watch it because of the dub and it's cheesy OP, but got to watching it and started enjoying it. Although I do prefer to watch it uncut and subbed. Ah and Serena/Usagi's whining gets to be less of a problem as the series goes on, she does start out in her early teens I think, by the end of the series she has matured quite a bit (for her anyway).

No idea about the possibly H anime mentioned earlier. Among the many names that gets tossed about regularly (like Urotsukidoji), I haven't heard anyone else mention it.

Cornfed - February 14, 2005 08:26 PM (GMT)
Amazingly, some of the best animes I've seen have been hentais. If you were to take out some of the more mood breaking (or mood making lol) moments, they'd ******ing great! Check out Kite and Mezzo Forte to see some awesome action, animation, and story. Just fast forward through the bad parts (it's only like 5 minutes total in two episodes each. Green Bunny doesn't put a lot of bad in their H animes). Kite's a little depressing, though. Kinda got a downer ending.
