I saw the title and, well, knowing my fasination with samurai and anime, I uncovered the first ep. To watch thereafter, of course.
If you like giant robots and androids, all in a fudeal japan era with samurai, you will like this anime. The first ep was nothing spectacular but the previews for the second looked completely awesome.
Subbers are all OVER this anime as well. I believe there are, on average, 13 eps subbed so far (over 16 out). Anbu, A-Keep, Lunar, and subbers I never heard of are keep up to date with it in avi, ogm, and other formats I never heard of before. The eps also range about 180 mb per eps - but that's all good.
When I watch more of the anime, I'll give some big review. Bigger than even this one. Just wanted to tell you people that I find it interested and will get into it more.
I saw the first 2 episodes at Trinity Con last year and from what I saw, it was pretty good. I've been told that its fairly accurate as far as keeping up with The Seven Samurai's plotline (minus the sci-fi aspects added in).
Just wanted to update you guys. There are 26 eps in all, which makes it a well-rounded full anime series. Some subbers have the anime in such a dark tone (literally dark) that it's hard to see. I think this includes AF-F.
Overall an AWESOME series. It made me cry, which goes to show you how into it I got. Think Neo-Japan/old japan setting + giant robots... With characters that don't have much to do with either and are just living off the land as it is. Characters you can easily get attached to and cover every person's preference (there's a charrie Ranc would like, for example.. and a charrie that ChibiChichiri would like.. and a charrie that issue would like.. you get the idea.) And the plot keeps you interested. There aren't many if any slowspots.
They're going to release DVD #1 in america around September, I think. Just to keep you posted on that.. I don't know who liscensed the anime or how the dubbing is. But with all the fighting, gayness, and death, I doubt it'll be something on a kids' television program.
