Yay for Beck! This is a great anime. Kind of a mix between Kare Kano (minus most of the angst), Gravitation (with the yaoi removed), and School of Rock (Just because it's not anime doesn't mean I can't use it. >:P).
Here's the rundown. It's about a 14 year old boy named Tanaka Yukio, or Koyuki. He's pretty pathetic. Has virtually no friends, is the favored target of the school gang, has no real talents. Then something happens. He meets another boy (age 16) named Minami Ryuusuke, or Ray, and his life starts to change. He learn how to play the guitar, becomes a great swimmer, even gets a girlfriend. Ryuusuke forms a band and Yukio joins it. Together, they try to make a great band that makes it big.
I haven't finished watching this anime yet, I will tonight and will probably report my feelings on it afterward.I'm up to episode 14 and so far, there's been no filler. Every episode has had an impact on what's going on. Characters are developed in ways that still move the plot foward.
Lilgumba and Kelli, if you haven't already watched this, I think it's something you girls would really enjoy.
Man, oh man. Do I like this music. The music in this anime is really something. I especially like the cover of "I've Got a Feeling," by the beatles, that they did.
So I finished it. It's over. It's a really good anime. I recommend it to anyone that likes music, anime, and ...uh, music. There are a few things that bothered me about it, but overall, I give it a 8.5/10. I really liked how they made fun of j-pop. it's so true, too. I'm not saying that j-pop is bad, but...well, yes I am. I don't like the way it's done.
I'm getting off topic. Beck is a great anime and everyone here should watch it. It's got something in it that everyone can relate to. Defenitely check this anime out.
