Alright, it's 52 episodes long (which means it took a while for me to get it all) I've watched up to episode 47 and I'd like to share the experience, or at least a summary :P
Full Moon wo Sagashite focuses on a 12 year-old girl, she wants to become a J-pop idol but she has throat cancer. On top of that two shinigami (think of them as nicer versions of the grim reaper) show up on her twelf b-day and tell her that she has only one year to live and then she'll die. They were sent there to monitor her, make sure nothing interferes with her fate (her dying in a year) and to harvest her soul when the time's up. Humans aren't supposed to be able to see shinigami but for some reason or another, she can (seems like people about to die can see them some of the time). It's really funny some of the time as the two shinigami, one a brooding cat-helmet wearing pretty-boy named Takuto and one wearing a playboy bunny outfit with white ears on an oversized top hat named Meroko call their little duo Negi Ramen (which makes Mitsuke, the 12-year old, crack up). The series is serious some of the time, sad and somber at others, but the whole time she's striving to become an idol and meet up with her long-seperated love a boy named Eichi, whom she met at an orphanage prior to being adopted by her grandmother. Eichi moved to America and she wants to become so popular that she attracts his attention and they get to be happy together. Well, to achieve this, something had to be done. The cancer makes her cough and makes it hard for her to sing; but Takuto feels sorry for her and can transform her temporarily into a 16 year-old version of herself who is perfectly healthy and has dyed her hair blonde; she also has the voice of a 26 year-old real j-pop artist when she sings.
Now I know I'm not explaining this very well but I'd like to let you all know that this series starts off a little slow, then the story moves at a nice pace and has essentially no filler, I enjoyed the story; especially how things could be just fine and then suddenly something bad happens to snap it back towards reality. I haven't gotten to the ending, but it really draws you in and makes you want her to at least do her best, even if she is a little obsessive about "Eichi-kun"
