Title: Guild Wars is live!

All who have an internet connection, check out this game! It's the newest MMO out and it's oh so sweet! No subscription fee! No queue lines! Never have to worry about what server your friends play on!

This game was meant for PvP. Not your traditional MMO PvP, though. It's more a mixed version of MMO + FPS PvP. No more sitting around, dealing thousands of damage against your enemy for tens of minutes. All PvP is fast paced. Meant to stay intense and keep you into it.

All classes are supremely balanced by the same man who balanced the StarCraft races. No class has an outright advantage over another. No more rock, papper, scissors battles. It's balanced so every class can take out every other class.

It's not all PvP, though. There are plenty of places to explore. Hours of entertainment. See giants snowy peaks, beautiful blue oceans, exotic jungles, and misty swamps. Battle through the hordes of the Charr army and drive them back to the west, from whence they came.

Come check it out! Remember, there's no subscription fee.

I've seen some of it before at PAX, I know the scenery is awsome. (I kinda hoped they wouldn't update the art from the first released stuff so I would have something to complain about ;) )

How do you not have to choose what server you're on? Sounds pretty massive to be able to have contact with every guild and player in the game. :/

I don't think it's my kind of game but I'll probably try it since there's no extra fees.

It just puts you on the server that's on the same continent that you play on. The way they do it is super spiffy. You know how EQ2 and WoW have instances. Like towns will have multiple instances, or sometimes dungeons. Guild Wars does that too, except they're better at it. The main city alone has 150 some instances, and you can move between them as you please.

The PvE, or Player vs. Environment (Where you go out and fight monsters), is also instanced. Only you and your party are in that particular area. This takes away spawn areas, as everything is already spawned when you load the map. This makes it so you no longer have to sit around and wait for the named monster you have to kill to spawn.

Just don't think of this as a traditional MMO like EQ2 or WoW. A lot of MMO players that I know don't like it because they compared it to a traditional MMO games and didn't like it. The way this game works, you have to be quick on your feet. Unlike other MMOs, just getting the best skills and leveling up isn't enough. You have to think comboing and work well in a team. Because no one class has a definite advantage over another, you really need someone else to watch your back.

This game also removes the most common excuse to losing in PvP. "Oh, well he's higher lvl than I am. That's why I lost. If I were the same lvl, I would have totally rocked him." Level doesn't mean as much as it used to. Level 20 is the highest, for now, and a lvl 15 could take a lvl 20 pretty easily, as long as they know what they're doing. The playing field is about as level as you can get, and still have some variety. Don't get me wrong, a lvl 10 would have hard time beating a lvl 20, but they could still put up a pretty good fight.

Also, Guild Wars has a story. An actual story. One that you go through and comlete quests for. Instead of an overall idea of a plot, like WoW and EQ2. As you progress through the quests, you find out more about the world you're in. The story is more like a traditional RPG. As you move through the game, you uncover more of the story.

Anyway, yeah, check it out. Tell me what you think about it.

I've been following it for a few months now and in about two weeks I'll use my meager amount of spare cash and buy a copy of it; I think I'd like to try ranger/monk

Oo, ranger/monk. Good choice. That's what my primary is. B) Our job is best suited for reconoider. And rezing the monk if he dies. Though, going pet and healing is also a great combo. You could also go protection and buff yourself so you can plink away at casters and still live while warriors are beating on you. There's a bunch more you can do with your skills too. :D Use your imagination!
