Title: Games that have grown on you

Topic title says it all. What games did you hate or dislike at first, but like now after playing it recently.

For me its Max Payne. When I first played it, I was disapointed with it. I thought that the baddies were cheap, and the difficulty annoyed the hell out of me. I just played it again recently out of boredom, and now I enjoy it a lot more than I used to. I dunno why, but I warmed up to it a lot and I'm addicted to it again.

For me, it'd have to be the tenchu series. At first, I didn't understand that it was a stealth game. I would run around and just kill people by waxing them with my sword. I'd get hurt, then I'd get to the boss and die. I thought it was a stupid game that they purposely made impossible. So I dropped it. Then Tenchu 2 came out and I played that. realized that the story was really good. Then I played the third one. It was really fun. I understood the concept of hiding and taking my time. So I went back and played the first two again. First one was a lot more fun, and the second was incredible. Now I love this series, though I've become more of a PC gamer than a console gamer as of late. So I haven't had time to get the newest one and play it.

You've always been to impaitent Cornfed. "Hey why not just run through Iron Mines? Whoops that didn't work."

My game I'm come to love is Ninja Gaiden, mostly becauses it just so damn hard. I don't really liek Ninja games that much, or any fighting game, but this thing constantly annoys and beittles me into trying to beat it. The fighting is also pretty cool to watch. Later on in the game, the bosses start requiring almost perfection to beat them, every attack needs to be blocked or dodged or you lose 90+% health. Its not impossible, just very, very hard.

Here is a comic that agrees with me.
Comic!

Bullshit I have! I was just stupid and over confident. When I play Tenchu, it's all about the patience. Unless I'm showing off...then it's about the awesome.

Cornfed... you gotta play the new Tenchu. It OWNS! And... no mysitical ghosts that you cant kill. Also no Riki Maru, sadly, but there is a new Kunoichi who is pretty cool.

The game that grew on me was Jet Grind Radio on Dreamcast. It was soooo hard the first times I played it, but the music and graphics were so cool, i kept it up. The I busted out a few tricks and hit some tags and I was hooked. I still love that game and its sequal is what convinced me to get an Xbox. I reall yhope they make a third JSR/JGR.

The game that annoyed me at first was Bounce Out. I would always die and couldn't get any good points. Now after seeing my sister score I've been playing more and understanding the game. I have since creamed her score and am slightly addicted.

Jesus, Lord of all that is good and undead! I loves teh new Tenchu. Ninja ftw!! Though I still miss my 3 person stealth kill in Deadly Shadows.

Well since you guys were talking aobut the tenchu series thats the game it really made me think of. I beat the hell out of the first one when that came out, but by the time the second one was comming out I didn't really care.
BUt the thing that really made me mad about tenchu games were the undead and magics. Monsters that gang up and you can't stealth kill were not cool. :/

The game I had to warm up to was Elder Scrolls III: Marrowind. It was the first time I really played a game like that. I bought it after seeing my friend play it on xbox sadly I couldn't run it vary smoothly at the time (PC User). At first I didn't really like the game play at all, perhaps because I didn't really unstand how to level up. But when mods came to twon and I had a killer system, at the time it was killer :P, to play it I fell in love! I had two really cool mods tht really mattered/ One was a new race, somewhat overpowered, of a Halk High Elf and Half Dark Elf and a Dual Wield mod that bascily added swords that acted like shields in your off hand. I still have the game, but not the same set of mods I once had. :/

I beat the normal game and bloodmoon, but only recently found out what to do for tribunal, (I never read the journal before so I had no clue. XD)

Mmm, Morrowind...The game's pretty cool. Punching Vivec's lights out is by far my favorite thing to do. Not much is better than getting into a fist fight with a, so called, god...and coming out on top

Resident Evil 4. Now; I did like it at first, graphics were a huge, nay... massive step up from 1, 2, and 3. And the over-the-shoulder viewpoint was an instant love of mine. But play that game on even normal and you'll run into a lot of trouble about halfway through the game, low ammo (a cliche of most of the series) and very powerful enemies (another one) but the final thing that made me put down the game for about two months was something that I found absent in the previous titles: actual puzzles in parts of the game. Not, collect these and put it there's, or turn this thing and that opens puzzles. Puzzles that are actually manipulated and give you a hell of a time if you're tired. Anyway... I picked it up again and I'm always sure to be fully awake when I play the puzzle parts and play later at night when I know it's about to be a head-on killfest. mmm... riot gun.
