Ho ho ho!
I felt the need to post, but didn't feel like writng anything new, so I I just copied a random page from this story Im sorta writing. I know at least cornfed is sorta curious as to its contents!
“How are things progressing up here sir?” came the voice again a few
moments later, a bit too loud and rather close to his ear. Dranarius managed to
shield his eyes from the rain long enough to see the dripping face of Jaella smiling
expectantly at him. He smiled back at her, and then chuckled.
“Not that quickly I’m afraid, I’m a bit out of practice.” He said shaking his
head, and pointing at the small pile of discarded runes. “It’s been a long time
since the academy, and I wasn’t exactly good at it then. How are things on your
end?”
“I meant with the sages” Jaella said, gently taking the carving tool from his
hand. “I know you want to help, but perhaps we should leave this one to the
experts, hmm?” she said with another smile. “I’m sure you can find something
else to do with your talents aside from frustrating yourself with a pile of rocks. As
for things on our end, things seem to be secure, although our scouts can’t really
see much of anything. A herd of tarnoks could sneak up on us in this mess.”
Dranarius sighed again, pitching the un-carved stone into the rainy haze
ahead and staring after it for a moment. “The only talent I seem to have left in me
is getting into trouble, and then running away from it. Only now, I can’t even put
that one to use because my ‘followers’ have taken it upon themselves to do it for
me.”
“Only you would feel sorry for yourself for becoming a leader” Jaella said with
a bit of an eye roll. “If you can’t stop complaining for a moment, I suppose I’ll have
to go ask the sages myself.”
“Oh they’re fine, not that I understand what the hell they’re talking about, but
from what I can see the gate looks complete. I’m beginning to suspect they just
gave me these runes to carve to get me out of their hair.”
*edit* for some reason, pasting it ate my indents :(
