Title: My first AMV
Description: about Naruto!

Saizo - June 14, 2005 04:51 PM (GMT)
I wasn't quite sure where to post this...but I worked on it on my computer...and it's a "graphic" thing...so I'll just put it here. =P

This is my first AMV ever...and I've received some pretty good reviews about it...believe it or not, I'm looking for some bad reviews! (Not that I absolutely need/want them...but if I do have some bad points in it, I wanna work on them. =D)
Anime: Naruto (with spoilers from episodes 109 and 133-135)
Song: Helena by My Chemical Romance

Remember...there ARE spoilers in this AMV...so if you don't like spoilers and/or haven't gotten this far in the anime yet...do NOT watch this AMV.

Now that you've been warned...proceed to dling at your own risk!

DL it here: Naruto - Helena

WELL, Im sure it was great. I can only guess at that, because my crappy computer will not run it for some reason. But I have not doubt that it is wonderful.

THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW

Yes, yes, well done.. but you heard that already and you want critiques.. so here goes:

Don't use fansubbed stuff for AMVs. Use the RAWs. Tthe subtitles can get in the way otherwise. Also, there were parts where it looked like Sasuke was talking because the words were under his face, but it was actualy Naruto talking while the "camera" was on Sauske.. this happened visa-versa as well. It sorta makes the characters confusing. Besides, you already have images and music, adding a lot of text is too much. Especially in such a cool song where people should listen to the lyrics. A few lines of subbed stuff is OK, but it gets distracting when it doesn't all apply.

There wasn't much of an intro to the the video either, just some of the actual Naruto OP theme. It sorta stuck it in me dry, if you know what I'm saying. While this isn't always a bad thing, it just didn't seem to work with the flow of the rest of the AMV. A couple of shots of Sauske and Naruto about to fight with cool stances and some nice fades could have helped a lot.

I did like how you mixed in the "This is Naruto?" at the beginning, and your choice of episodes is great. It also expressed the emotion of the song pretty well. Sadly, though, you left out some of the best stuff from those eps where Naruto is going totaly kung fu crazy. Also, I am puzzled at your choice to leave out the shot of Sauske getting his third sharingin. I mean, I know you are not trying to retell the the Naruto story, but it was a very excellent shot and could have gone well with the song.

All in all it was good. With some polish it could have been great.

Yeah, I got several complaints from friends about the fansubbed parts as well... XD
Luckily, on my second AMV (just finished it today), I used RAW eps. Thanks to your guys' advice. ;D

As for the intro, I purposely used it 'cause it seemed to fit with the beginning of the song...just like it's introducing the song, I used the beginning part of the anime's opening to introduce the AMV. Some people like that part; when Naruto's holding up the Rasengan, and you can hear the beat of the drums. But don't worry, I didn't use the opening of an anime on this second AMV. XD

When I read that...it killed a part inside of me...I can't believe I missed that part...when Sasuke got his 3rd Sharingan, that would've been an excellent part in the video...but, I've already distributed it to several hundreds of people (I uploaded it at AMVs.org) and changing it now would probably look bad. 'Sides, it's my first AMV, I'm bound to make mistakes.

Well, hopefully, this next AMV is a lot better than the first. However, I focused more in lip syncing rather than video transitions. I wish I could upload it...but www.yourhost4free.com died on me, so the only means of me distributing it to you guys is if you register on AMV.org and search for "Saizo" in the Members section, which will show you the AMVs that I have created, or if you IM me on AIM, and I can send it to you at a pretty decent speed. (Varies upon connections)

Thanks again!
