Title: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

So, it's out....in japan...and on the internet. Good ol' fansubbers. They never miss a beat. Was up for DL within hours of it's Japan release, with subtitles, no less.

Anyway, about the movie. I guess I could do my normal critique of movies and games like I do, saying how it's not as good as I would like, but I'm feeling too lazy too. So here's my review of it:

Go watch it, you'll like it. Pay attention to the end of Tifa's fight scene. You'll get a kick out of it.

Ok, that's it for my review.

This movie was and is, awesome. If you loved FFVII like I did then you have to see this!

After watching it the first time I started it over and watched it again. XD Also go watch FFVII: Last Order, an anime that tells you about Zack and Clouds relationship. I guess they made this because when FFVII first came out in japan it didn't tell you anything about Zack.

I saw it with my hubby (was on leave in Cali) on his computer. We both agreed...
The movie rocks! It was very well done. The graphics were great, the story was good, the fights were good, and it had a couple small jokes that gave it a little extra fun to it.

This was definitely 500x better than Spirits Within, and you'll be disappointed if you miss this one.

I would definetely like to say, that this is probably one of the best CGI / anime flicks I've seen in a very long time. Fact is, its probably going to be the best movie I see all year. The fight scenes and CGI works were simply insane and amazing. I also loved Uematsu's sound track, featuring the works he did with his band, The Black Mages. Added very nicely to the fast-paced and awesome action. And they did a good job balancing it with comic relief / jokes. Reno and Rude are just awesome.

The only thing I truly regret in this movie, is that the other characters in FFVII didn't get much of a chance to do much anything. The fight with Bahamut was freaking awesome, but I felt it wasn't enough. I'd have liked to see the other two Seph clones (Loz and Yazoo) fight the other party members. Imagine how cool a gun slinging duel between Vincent and Loz would've been? Watching RedXIII Take on a huge swarm of the skeleton wolf thingies woulda been cool too, as well as Barret getting to unload that awesome gun of his a bit more. Yuffie and Cait Sith could've also done more.....despite what most fans think, I actually like them as characters. Pray tell, my party was always Cloud, Vincent, Cid / Vincent, Cid, Barret, but Yuffie and Cait Sith deserve more respect then they get from the fan base....

I was hoping to at least see each character do a limit break or two. Ahh well.

Simply though, this movie did so much in just an hour and a half. All of Square-Enix showed off thier talents for it. I really, really hope they make a sequel....even if its just a half-assed plot thrown together for the sheer excuse to show off more stylish and fast paced fighting with the other FFVII characters. Fact is, I'd like to see Square-Enix do this kind of work more with their games....but thats dreaming for a bit too much, I suppose.

Still, despite that little critique, I give this movie my highest rating.

This may be a little bit of a thread necro, but I got the movie late. Sue me :P.

Anyways, The movie is a lot of what I expected of it, and I definitely enjoyed the various sequences (particularly all the fights) in the movie. It takes the visual style of The Spirits Within and enhances it by SO much, and then gives it a decent story to boot, definitely taking the torch the game held up and bringing it to a (I think) decent 'true' end.

As the last poster said, only the most important characters got a limit break, and Cloud got the largest allotment among the characters, though I expected as much.

[Spoiler Warning]

The super launch thing was what me and my friends said was the most unbelievable part, though Tifa's fight was practically on the moon she was leaping around so much. I don't consider this a bad thing. Some people reviewed the movie with an insulting tone, thumbing their noses down on it as a "Crouching Tiger" rip off due to the fight sequences. Thankfully for myself, I liked CT:HD.

So while most of the fights were at half gravity or something, there's two things I remind myself. For instance, Loz punching around chunks of ground and throwing Tifa like the hulk. You have to remember: The Party are all (I would presume) Level 99 now,(they did have 2 years, after all :P) and the Silver Haired Men are supernatural entities, explaining Loz and Kadaj's movement (though Loz does get to play with Haste a bit, like in the tunnel. That was cool, btw. Like Cloud Pinball XD)

I must say, I love the upgrade the Omnislash got, not to mention how they rendered most of Cloud's numerous limit breaks. I counted at least 4, though I probably missed some. I like how TIfa's limits turned out. Loz got what was coming, heh.

So yes. A lot of the criticisms I take in stride. I liked it and rate it highly.
