This is a thread for rules. They will be changed, quartered, rearranged, misplaced, searched for, found, managed, and vindicated. Expect things to move around and gain or loose words.
On the by, READ THEM. Not only the rules, but the stuff about Monsterism and groups in post 3. This entire thread is filled with Stuff that YOU need to know before making your character.
For this RP, I WONT Tolerate people breaking the very simple rules. Cause if you do without Consulting me about it first, the entire rp is in jeopardy.
If you make a profile before reading the rules, we can tell. Oh how easily.
What is KK aiming for in this rp?
I really want to see this rp flourish. Sorta like 'What actually goes on in Midgar slums that we don't see in the game'. The rp is more for plot and less for 'running around killing everything that moves'. I want everyone to start out at level 1, or even a percentage of level 1. At the same time I don't want the rp to have Uber characters in it, because that can and will ruin everything.
This is why following the rules is important. If you don't intend to follow them, or if you want to make an uber character with an intent to powergame or godmode, then just don't join.
Rules in their cute, simplistic form.
1. You can be whoever you want. So long as you aren't a charrie from the game, a clone of Seph or something resembling thereof through Jenova, or an Ancient.
2. Materia is expensive. EXPENSIVE. It ain't cheap. It's also hard to find as well. Therefore, if your charrie isn't stinking, filthy rich, or has a long-living job, you wont have materia. And if you do, it's cheap, simple materia. That's fire, ice, thunder, or restore. You only get 1 materia of the 4 I listed per person. Don't come in with Steal, All, something that turns people into little frogs, or some materia that isn't fire, ice, thunder, or restore.
There is no summon materia laying around. And even if there was, you wouldn't be able to control the beastie that comes out of it. More or less be able to reseal it back into the materia (Ifrit, the pokemon on steroids). So stop asking.
Materia, if you have it, will fatigue you everytime you use it. More so for restore than all the others.
3. This is a rule for healy things
Potions, HiPotions, XPotions wont do what you want them to do. They don't heal wounds. They're sorta like RedBull and Neosporin put together. Keeps your wounds from infecting, gives you an extra boost of energy to finish what you're doing. But it doesn't hide the fact that you still gotta get stitched up or you're going to die. And the potions will only last you so long, once you're wounded to a point, you just slip into a coma and someone else has to drag you to the nearest doctor/clinic/healy place.
Ethers are alot like potions. Say you use materia, you're feeling tired. These viles of medicine will give you an adrenalin long enough to maybe throw another attack or two. But it seriously disguises the fact that you need some sleep Badly. Don't blame me if you pass out in the middle of fighting.
Restore does heal your wounds, but its effectiveness depends on their severity. A few small cuts will be healed completely, but a huge, bleeding gash going from someone's shoulder to their hip is NOT going to disappear in one casting. Also, using the Restore materia will exhaust you 3 times faster than the other materia. Therefore, if you're trying to fully heal someone with a gash that runs from the shoulder to the hip, don't expect to be be able to do much else after that. And if you have multiple people with the same condition, fully healing them all is impossible, because you'll more than likely pass out after working on the first person.
4. Limit breaks. Everyone can have a limit break. You don't even have to tell us in your profile what it is exactly. But you only get One. Got it? Make sure you know your whole L.B. move scheme and that you like it. Cause it's all you're gunna be doing for a LONG while. Don't copy Limit Breaks from the game.
The whole thing with limit breaks is that they're weak, little things. Better than your usual sword swing or gun shot. Still... You're not going to kill your opponent with every limit break you have.
They also can't be brought up at a whim. Limit breaks happen when you've had the crap beaten out of you to a point that you've got adrenalin built in you that needs to get released. And I'm not talking about one or two swaps here. You don't want to get beaten to a pulp? Well, you don't have to use your limitbreak talent then.
5. Right now (so I can have a 5th rule) everything is going to take place in Midgar. So no threads for places like Wutai or Fort Condor. The scenery for Midgar and how everything will work is gunna sorta be in post 3... And, if it takes killing Lewi, will have pictures. Muahahaa
Miss me? Here's a little more about the rp. Ya know, important stuff like... Oh... the scenery, the date, few random things about monsters, experiments, and turks (oh my!) that I didn't bring up in the rules.
If you missed out on rule 5, the entire rp will happen in Midgar (right now the slums til Lewi and me figure out what goes on in the sunlight of the place). Everything is 10 years before the FinalFantasyVII game takes place. Midgar has been built, people have settled in, Shinra isn't as big as they will be - but Dammit all they're up there. Boys are still coming in from around the world to be part of Soldier. And monsters of diffy sizes and shapes have been encroaching more and more on slummish soil.
MIDGAR
For pictures of Midgar, see the Midgar thread in this subforum. Midgar is a GIANT mako reactor made into a city. It has three large circular pancake layers and in the center is the Shinra building (that goes up to a rediculous 70 floors). The upmost layer is the midgar city - for shinra soldiers, Soldier, and training. The middle layer, where the rp takes place, is the slums. No sunlight comes into the slums as the upper city is over it. Everything is powered by an electricity via mako production (lights, heating, etc). The lowest layer is basically the sewers.
MONSTERISM
Coming out from the aftereffect of the mako plant - more over a small rumor about strange experiments a recent man named Professor Hojo was committing - were mobs of monsters. The monsters tried to take over every nook and cranny, some so viscious that people were forced into protecting themselves. From this came a paranoia against anything that looks remotely monster, a prejudice against them. And everytime someone in the city saw one of these creatures they'd either hide in their home or gun it down.
Now we know that these experiments were originally human. Do the players? Nooo. They have no clue. Even a good hunk of the monsters don't remember their past life or what happened to them. Most mako monsters have an uncontrolled visciousness. At the same time, others keep their human intelligance and find their situation pretty unfair.
If you want your character to be an experiment or mako monster, PM me with your idea and we'll see if we can make that work. Just remember the main Mako Monster rules. 1. Mako monsters live in the slum outskirts. 2. There is a prejudice against mako monsters. 3. Your character, should you be a mako monster, needs to have some form of human intelligance. I mean, if you don't, you wouldn't live very long.
You Are a mako monster? Just put in your profile under 'monsterism' Yes. Your entire profile would describe what you look like.
CYBORGISM
Only shinra has the power to make AI, Huge machinery robots, and demons off that. You guys? You have the ability to have weapons or machinery graphted over bodyparts. But that's alright. Just don't come in saying that you're a robot with 16 arms, tank parts mounted on, and sensory vision for everything weapon, mako, living, monster, etc. That'd be uncool.
GROUPS
You have a choice of a load of groups you can be in.
There's an average Slumerian (this includes merchants and shop owners), or part of a rebel group (right now the Rebel group in the area is known as the DeadlyGeckos), or even a lowgrade military employee (like a guard, boring slummish job and plenty of time to slackoff).
Soldier, Turks, and Monsters are also availible, but you need to PM me first to get permission. (because Soldier is like... elite. And Turks are obscenely major elite)
You cannot be part of Shinra (sides for the groups listed) unless you're going to make some huge plot that I'm let in on.
For now, just pick one group instead of more than one..
