Title: An Old House
Description: AKA the DeadlyGecko's hideout

Chibi Chichiri - October 11, 2005 06:09 AM (GMT)
At first glance, the building is a small room which houses only a bed with a few tattered blankets, a sink with rusty old pipes, and some various odds and ends stacked on a nicked and scratched, beat up old dresser that doubles as a desk. Though it's not visible, there' s a small partition on the back wall that slides away to reveal a well-guarded secret...

The hideout of the DeadlyGeckos.

The room is definitely larger than the front room. The main room is just a living room. There's a TV set on a shelf, along with other levels of the shelf holding tightly bundled papers, seemingly sorted to careful specifications. There are a cluster of chairs. The room expands out to a couple of doors, leading to a couple of bunk type rooms. Inside, there's a a row of beds for each room.

Rivek half-marches up to the little shack, a large back slung over his right shoulder and a table and chair under the other. Somewhere behind him, Zane follows. Rivek's been here many times before to do exactly what he's about to do, so he's pretty sure it'll be fine.

Raising one foot in front of him, he kicks the door just hard enough to knock. BANG! BANG! The door clatters a bit from the blows, then settles down. Moments later, a voice calls from behind: "'ello there. Who is it?"

"Who do you think it is?" Rivek replies.

"Ah, you again. I should've known, you're the only person I know who can't knock with your hands." The door opens a crack, revealing a cautious eye and a shock of unkempt red hair. The eye smiles at Rivek, then shifts towards the newcomer and opens wide "Oookay, who's the new guy?"

Rivek shrugs, leaving his bag wobbling back and forth behind him. "Eh, don't worry about him. I'm just helping him find someone. He won't cause trouble." Looking back towards Zane, he grins. "Right?"

Zane grins back to the inquisition sent his way. He takes a look at the house, though it's nothing special, like all of the houses down in the slums. It's particularly unexceptional, as if it defintiely doesn't want to be noticed. Perhaps intentional, perhaps not. Who knew?

Zane shook his head to Ravik's question. Why would they even ask? What could that mean? Someone might only ask if they had good reason. But he didn't give voice to his wandering thoughts. Still, what was special about this not-so-special shack? He shouldn't waste his thoughts on something so unimportant when his quarry was still lost.

The house itself seems deceptively large. A little glimpse inside shows that there is definitely more to the inside. The further assembled questions again, remain unsaid, for good reason. Too many questions always draw too many stares, and questions in return.

His temporary companion had a connection to the person in the house, though it was likely he didn't stay there. And he jumped when he saw something. This was quickly assembling into a picture, though he was still missing most of the pieces.

"I don't know," says the red shock of hair. "He doesn't seem to talk much." Still, the door opens wider, and the voice's owner is revealed. Like the house, he doesn't seem to be anything special -- just a twenty-something man with hair that spikes in every direction, wearing a white t-shirt with a logo to faded to read, dark sneakers with holes in the toes, and a pair of worn blue jeans.

"Well, you know why I'm here. If you don't want us to come in, we won't." Rivek hands over the bag, and his folded portable shop as well. "I just need to keep these things here while I head out. You know how much trouble they can be to lug around."

"Yeah, good point." The man vanishes into the house for a moment, and there's a clatter or two as things are set down. "So where're you headed off to this time?" He says, coming back to the door.

Zane figured this was his cue. Since Ravik didn't seem to be answering just yet. He took a look at the man up front as he thought of what to say. It wasn't much to say, so why the thinking? He asked himself.

"Uh yeah. I'm looking for a kid. He wandered towards this sector. I dunno where he is but, the kid's not exactly the most street smart.. He had some trouble in Sector 02."

He didn't like going into deep detail. Even if it was someone that didn't seem too dangerous or evil, it just never seemed like a good idea to Zane. "So yer friend here, well, I presume he's a friend, your friend here offered to help."

MWeaver - October 24, 2005 04:33 AM (GMT)
"Yeah, we know each other pretty well," says the man at the door. "He finds some good stuff out there, and it's worth what I pay. Now, this kid? I wish I could help, but I haven't seen any new kids around..."

Rivek shrugs. "It's alright, Scrapper, I haven't either. But things are slow today, so I took off work. I'd like to check back around sector 2, although I'd check the gate first. If the guards haven't seen him, he didn't make it through."

"Well, not without luck and a good weapon, he didn't," 'Scrapper' replies. "Well, sorry I can't stand and chat all day, but I'm in the middle of something. You keep yourselves alive now. Don't die and leave me with all this crap, Rivek!" He grins widely on the last comment.

Rivek flaps his lips like a horse. "You know I'll be fine. Something tells me he will be, too. I'll be back before you even have time to find my stuff in that pile of junk."

"You're right there. Well, take care, both of you!" The red-haired man calls out, then closes the door before another word can be said.

Rivek turns to Zane again. "Sorry about that, he's always a bit rushed. So, now that I've got that load off my back, should we head for the gate?"

LightCecil - October 24, 2005 04:38 AM (GMT)
Zane nods again. "There's not much to search, and if a few people haven't seen him within the last hour, he's just likely not around here. So to the gate it is."

The area around the house were more unimpressive and very ramshackle houses made from the same piles of refuse that heaped around the slums wherever there was space. The clinic now far behind. The entrance to Sector 04 can't be far from here. He supressed a shudder. Definitely want to stay out of there. If the kid's there, they wouldn't find him anyway.

"So, what're we waiting for?" Zane says as he starts to move towards the gate. "No time to lose."
