Title: Manga: Download it or buy it?
Akisu - November 14, 2003 10:56 AM (GMT)
Which do you do more of, downloading manga, or buying it? Why do you do whichever one you do?
I buy manga for the most part, because I like being able to take it around with me and open it up anywhere and read it. Though the nice thing about getting it online is that it comes out sooooo much sooner, and it's free. XD

=P I'm not into manga for the most part... and though I dl it when I have to, it would logically be more useful in book form. due to the fact that you can take it with you when you're bored - and on the comp there is so much esle to do sides reading scanned manga XD
But I can never concentrate on a book - novel or manga - for that long in book form.. the words get all fuzzy and I see all the white opposed to all the black detail and lines... it's a pain in the ass... aw wel..
Well, that' sjust imput, I don't know what would be better XD

I too buy it mainly for the same reason. XD That and I'm not allowed to stay on my PC for a long amount of time. It's sad....I'm 20 and not allowed to stay for a long time without getting bitched at. ;-; Anwho, I download the saiyuki manga because it hasn't been translated yet. Tho ADV is hoping on getting it for their manga division. :D

I buy manga because I don't know where I can download the stuff I want. But I don't really have a problem with shelling out some cash for a good manga.

i prefer to buy manga rather than dl'ing, but in cases i guess it' can't be helped. for example, i guess it's cheaper for me if i dl'ed stuff, and it's already translated for me. the only manga i have on my computer are Azumanga Daioh and the first vol of Zombie Powder (which i still need to read). but i guess it's not the same. for one, i can't sit and read stuff off the computer screen for too long (we have to do that enough for online course packets DX). another thing is, manga is one of those things i put on my shopping list, i love buying manga, knowing that i am supporting my favorite artists and writers in some way (yes, it seems i care more about manga authors than i do musical artists -_-; ) and for other reasons that people have already mentioned...

I always buy it, it's just better to have the actual manga in front of you and be able to read it anywhere.

When its out in america and I want it, i'll buy it. I download alot of manga online though, just because I can't read japanese. I prefer it in book form so I can actually take it places, but ironically, I typically like the fantranslation better.

I like being able to hold my manga. XD But I buy both the Original Japanese text manga and the English version. Oo; Well...Most of my Japanese text manga haven't been translated by a big US company yet. Oo; I do that with Saiyuki Reload. There's a sinagpore company that has it translated into English. As far as I know they're only up to the two volumes. I dunno if there's more out yet. Oo;

I like buying the manga because it's much easier to manage and it kinda shows that you actually care for the series you are getting. XD But, occasionally, I dl the ones that aren't released in the U.S. yet, such as the later volumes of Naruto.
qupide de locke - January 29, 2004 05:00 AM (GMT)
I do both, I bought a uber amount of manga, but I also have around the first seven books of Hikaro No Go down loaded, before it was lisensed of course.

i used to download alot of manga of the net but my primary source had this thing with bit torrent that i didn't like and thought was extremely too slow. So now i buy...i have around 38 books of my own. 1-22 or Shonen Jump and I'm borrowing 7 at the moment.
