I've had the recent PLEASURE of seeing this movie opeing weekend. OMG it's the best damn movie I've seen in a vary long time. It takes the basic story of SH1 and elements from 2-4, though mostly part one. Like the opeing sequience in Silent Hill it has that freaky cenimatic camre movments that are just wonderful. I HIGHLY reccomend that you all see this movie! I will be seeing it again when I can. :D
10/10 ><)d

Sweet, i think i am going to go try to watch it ASAP. I just wanted to see what others said. I used to be a BIG SH fan and i didnt want it to be really sucky. Thnx for the remarks about the movie. Graywolf ^_^

I was impressed witht he visual eye candy the movie provided the audience with.
And I never played the games.
I heard from a few game-players that there were holes and that they didnt pay enough attention to detail, etc but other people who played the games absolutely loved the movie. I DO know that it confused the hell out of my sister Allison. At the ending, she had to call my cell phone to ask if the mother and daughter died and I go "Duh, they did".
I loved the part where Pyramid-Head ripped the flesh off of Anne. My sister Jeri went "Eeeeeeeeeeeeewww" and I just went "F*CK yes!!!"

I thought the whole ending sequence is what made that movie badass on a stick to the 4th power. Pyramid Head's moment of ownage was pretty sweet, but that whole genocidal rampage thing at the end.....heh, me and me mates were all lovin' the ultra violence.

I loved the end, so tragic and bitter sweet. And I should of known just from that the director is French. :P
Also Silent Hill 2 is in the wind.

Old post. Old. Old post. But reply I must for I was away. Yes.
[SPOILERS]
The problem with it, as I see it, was they basically borked Alessa's character (and messed with Dahlia considerably too and at the same time reasons why Alessa was burned and the one(s) who did it and and..... >_<).
If Rose(/Harry) and Sharon(/Cheryl) are indeed dead, or stuck in between the normal world, the altered reality misty SH world and not in the Nightmare/Otherside version of reality... Kinda kills the progression of her character (and her dad (games) if they're gone for good).
Play the games if you haven't already. SH2 is kinda unrelated (as far as characters go, but is where Pyramid Head showed up first. Great game though) .. But SH3 in a way picks up (years later) where SH1 leaves off. Excellent games. Haven't played 4 (much) or 0rigins(/Zero) yet.
I know they can't and probably shouldn't do exact remakes. But that's a major character (well several as well as a larger plot line) there to muck about with. So ya gotta be kinda careful. And why was Pyramid Head even in it? ARGH.
Yes, major baddie, but.. *sigh* There's a reason for him in SH2.
Also...Poor Cybil.
Games. Play them. Love them. Be freaked out by them. Play em in the dark with headphones on. Immerse yourself in the otherside. You'll be glad you did.[/SPOILERS]
That said, on it's own without regard for canon or how the frak to do good sequels. XD Do watch it, good special effects and kinda creepy. It just never got to the level of creepy or awesome, for me, that the games did.
