I wonder why this thread hasn't been made yet. I saw this movie yesterday at the theaters with me good mates, and I must say that it is perhaps the greatest piece of cinema I've seen this year. Probably, in this decade. Never, and I mean NEVER, have I had this much fun at a theater. The whole....absurdity of the movie, from its plot, to its action sequences, to its dialogue....to its just whole situation, is HILARIOUS. The movie presents itself as an actual serious action film, but it isn't. Its so rediculous that it has you captivated and laughing all the way through, ensuing some ultra-violent deaths and surrealistic situations.
You, of course, need to check your brain at the door when you walk into the theater. Anyone expecting a real thriller or an action flick or a suspense film or something with meaning....will be dissapointed. But the production values are top-knotch, the acting (although MANY roles are stereotypes) was great, and the movie was just a load of fun upon FUN.
What really added to it was the participation by the audience. At my theater, when Samuel L. Jackson first appeared on screen, there was a ton of cheering and clapping. And when he finally delivers "The Line", the entire audience cheered and chanted it along with him.
"...MOTHER ******ING SNAKES ON THIS MOTHER ******ING PLANE!"
The movie just pure fun. Insanity, absurdity, chaotic, and hilarious. I can't even say much more without spoiling it....but oh man, it was definitely worth the trip and the money to go see. I can already see it being elevated to a Rocky Horror Picture Show status. The movie was a cult-flick before it even was released (behold the power of the internetz!), and it definitely delivered everything and more to the fans, and was even well worth all the hype it got.
I highly recommend it. Just grab a few friends, check your sanity at the doorsteps, sit back, relax, and enjoy the fright. Its a great movie to just laugh and chant and cheer all the way through. Its just pure fun.
I just agree with everything Rancor said. GO see the damn movie already!
I dunno about the movie. It ruled, that's definately sure. But I really should've seen it with a friend or something. All of that venom effect on dead people really put me off. Made it kinda gorey. So while I knew the movie was awesome and I laughed my ass off during most of it, my stomach churned over parts and I was fortunate enough to cover my eyes at other parts. =P then again, I'm not a horror film kinda person.
I think another thing people should do is go as a group or go during a time that there is a group. A cheering audience would definately make the film awesome.
