I just noticed that this board lacks a topic for the Borat movie. I'm going to alleviate that problem as of now.
Borat was one of the funniest movies I had ever seen in years. I wasn't expecting it to be much, but I could not stop laughing the first time I saw the movie all the way through. It is definitely NOT for the weak of heart or for those who are easily offended. This movie exposes some dark realities of EVERY culture through satire and extreme stereotypes.
Sascha Cohen's character, Borat, is a very gross extreme stereotype of the general perception of Eastern Europeans. There are high levels of anti-semitism, sexism, and racism within Borat's character, but they're done to such extremes that it exposes just how ridiculious and absurd the stereotypes are. The movie also did a good job of exposing some of the levels of prejudice still around within our society.
There are alot of extreme scenes within this movie. Thats what made it a blast for me. The whole motel scene shocked me in ways I've never been shocked before in my entire life. Not the actual act that occurred, but the fact that this sort of thing was put into a feature cinematic movie.
Definitely expect to be shocked and offended on new levels, but in ways that will have you rolling within laughter non-stop. Thats how it was for me anyway. The most important thing to note is to NOT take this movie seriously. Otherwise you'll miss out on the great humor, and just be horribly offended.
I remember watching a few people walk out of the theater the first time I saw it on opening day. That just added to the hilarity. I've seen this movie twice so far, and I really enjoyed it both times.
The Ranc' highly recommends this.
