The year of 3000 dawned a new age onto humanity. Technology had evolved unto new heights never before imagined by the ancient peoples of old. All things that were once considered simple fleeting dreams became new reality. Cybernetic modifications, flying cars, weapons of unimaginable destructive potential. A new age where nearly everything had some sort of terminal interface connected to it, where everything had some sort of micro processing unit embedded within it. The world breathed with a mechanical pulse, as gigantic cities began to rise up, surrounded by endless stretches of power productions known as "The Production Planes".

Among these behemoth mega-cities would lie Delphoria. The largest city located on the entire East Coast of North America, the home base location of the United People's Freedom Party. Though considered to be one of the most highly evolved cities in the world, Delphoria was purely like most of the cities that rose up in the aftermath of the now ruined North American Empire.

Centuries ago, sometime in the year 2300, the entire continent of North America was ruled by one singular entity. One mega-powerful Capitalist entity, known only as the North American Empire. No longer would there be any trade or cultural disputes between the United States, or Canada, or Mexico. All three of these countries would band into one, becoming the top economic leader in the entire world. In fact, it was very safe to say that amongst all the other Empire and Totalitarian states among that time, the North American Empire was the most powerful. Many claimed that they had reached the absolute pinnacle of their existence, having been able to lead as a world power for nearly 400 years.

However, right on the southern border of the North American Empire, tensions began to arise. What once started in the early 2000's, which many believed to be a somewhat righteous socialist revolution, ended with a mere repeating of history. By the year 2300, all of South America had completely rejected the idea of Capitalism as their economic model. Under the banner of a united socialist state, they slowly evolved over the course of the years, until they nearly repeated all of the history of Stalinist Russia, but at a much slower and drastically more powerful rate.

It began as simple diplomatic disputes. The Totalitarian Socialist State squared off against the North American Empire in many debates within the council of the highly evolved United Nations. Eventually, the world would see perhaps the 4th Cold War in Humanity's history unfold between the two nations. Totalitarian Socialism clashed against Imperialist Capitalism, both grinding their respective gears of industry as fast as possible.

All around the world, in still-developing countries that both nations sought to exploit for their own benefits, armed conflicts began to arise. The new advent of technology brought forth a completely new kind of war, with the highly evolved combat soldiers of the North and South American nations clashing in some of the most destructive carnage the world had ever seen. The conflict waged for a whole 70 years, with neither side proving to back down or falter.

The North American Empire inspired it's population to continue fighting with overly-religious propoganda, and careful manipulation of all press information. Like wise, the South American Totalitarian Socialist State employed their own skillful censorship of all press, pumping in awe-inspiring propoganda which whipped up an equally powerful zeal in their population. Both sides mercilessly destroyed any dissent with their population, with the North American Empire choosing to "liquidate" any protestors, where as the South American Socialists took all dissidents to be "re-educated" through means of harsh pyschological brain-washing.

Historians still debate over which nation did the worst punishment. North America, who simply killed off their protesting population, or South America, who stripped away all of their humanity and critical thought.

While North America and South America clealry made no real progress against each other in the 70 years that they waged conflict, the clear benefactors of the war could be observed in many European and Asian Nations. As the war waged on for as long as it did, many private developers in Europe and Asia added their own fuel to the inferno of war. New technology continually developed, eventually hailing forth the new DWM high-assault combat suits. Standing for Deployable War Machine, these giant exo-skeleton suits standing of 10 feet tall allowed a single soldier to bring forth an entire arsenal of destruction onto the battle field. This revolutionized the way the war was fought, although after it's invention the war itself did not last long.

It was very hard to tell exactly what sort of economic model the European and Asian nations were. While the North American Empire praticed a completely lassiez-faire, Neoliberal approach to economics, countered by the Totalitarian South American's model of complete government regulation of every single aspect of industry, Europe and Asia seemed to have a mixture of the two. While it can be argued that both Europe and Asia were definitely Dystopian states of their own, they remained unscathed by the continual fires of war. Quite to the contary, the ongoing war between North and South America actually strengthened Europe and Asia economically, with both nations evolving to new heights mainly because of the war.

Everything would change though. Just mere months after the deployment of DWMs onto the battlefield, the war that lasted 70 whole years would end within a matter of 3 days. Ever since the apocalyptic event of Hiroshima, Japan, not a single nuclear weapon was even fathomed for use in war. Many had cowered in fear that the North and South American conflicts would escalate to nuclear levels. Most, however, strongly believed that the now nearly 400 year old MAD conflict would still provide ample incentive against such actions. But in the year of 2371, on May 23rd, 6:43am, a country located within North-east region of South America blew up in the dreadful image of the apocalyptic mushroom clouds so many feared through out the centuries.

Historians argue that it is very important to note that, when the UPFP searched the legal archives of the North American Empire, NO official authorization existed in any of the houses to order the use of nuclear weapons. Some debate that the nukes were fired off due to the actions of a crazed, high-ranking military zealot who had lost everything from the war, and chose to do the most radical action to end it. A less well-believed theory is that it was the result of the actions of a very small, but highly skilled, terrorist cell who caused the action in spite of their defeat in early 2000. Many refute this claim, citing evidence that the last remaining individuals belonging to the totally decimated underground terrorist networks, were all either detained, executed, or started new lives as organized crime syndicates. Dissenters of this theory also point that no evidence lies in proving it.

The most radical theory behind the North American Empire's nuclear bomb attack, often labled as a "Conspiracy Theory", which could actually cause an individual living in Delphoria to get arrested if it's publically talked about, was that the whole incident was caused by members working for the now extremely economically powerful European and Asian nations. Believers of this theory point out to how the UPFP was instigated in the ruins of the North America far too conveniently in the aftermath of the nuclear war.

Whatever the case, over 3 days various parts of North and South America blew up in nuclear flame. It was a horrific sight to behold, gripping the entire world in terror. Millions upon millions of lives vanished instantly, as both sides unloaded everything within their arsenal at one another.

On May 26th, 7:43pm, 2371, the war was officially over. Nothing remained of the Totalitarian Socialist South American States. The entire contitent had lost over 35% of it's land mass, and the surviving population had dwindled down to a mere 5%, of what it was, 70% of whom died of nuclear sickness months later.

The casualities on North American side of the nuclear exchange weren't as severe. North America had lost an estimated 35% of it's entire population from nuclear fire alone, with mainly every single state lying on the South American border completely devastated. Although considered victorious in the long war against their South American Socialist enemy, the once mighty North American Empire shortly crumbled. The act of nuclear war had casted the Empire to be viewed as utterly insane war-crazed madmen, ultimately leading to the New United Nations to cut off all economic ties with them. Also, most of the population had fled towards other countries on the first day of nuclear exchange, in total fear of dying in a nuclear holocaust.

Without any economic ties with the world, 35% of the population dead, and a dramatically huge surge of mass emigration out of it's country, the North American Empire could not sustain itself any longer. By the year 2372, the North American Empire had completely dissolved from power, leaving only a ruined country filled with poor, faithless, desperate people struggling to survive in the corpse of an empire that now only existed as a mere shadow.

With the Empire now completely decayed, the remaining population would face a long period of depression. Months before North America was considered one of the most powerful nations on Earth. Now, in the years of 2372, the nation was now considered one of the poorest. The mass population who were unable to afford to migrate to another nation struggled to remain alive in the midsts of their cold, ruined Empire. It was easily considered the most darkest time in all of North America's history.

Then, almost miraculously, the population of North America would be “saved”. Many of them found it far easy to completely abandon all loyalty they had to the North American Empire. Sprouting up from the ruins, came forth the United People's Freedom Party. Headed by extremely passionate, charismatic speakers, the UPFP came in and completely re-vitalized the quickly dying North America. Unbeknown to all, the UPFP was really completely funded by the powerful economic power houses of many different European and Asian private investors, most of whom had successfully taken over their government due to the economic power they gained from the old war. North America was going to be the new developing nation, the largest developing nation in the entire world. One that would prove to have the largest population ready to be exploited for menial labor. The UPFP, using the trillions of dollars (which eventually turned into the global currency, Credz) they had from their foreign investor powerhouse, completely re-built all of North America's ruined infrastructure. The end result was the entire re-birth of a nation, where citizens proudly destroyed all images related to the old Empire, and embraced a new identity under the banner of the UPFP.

After 70 years of bloody war that ended with 3 days of near apocalyptic nuclear devastation, the world finally would receive “peace”. Peace, that came from the UPFP's harsh corporate rule which turned the entire population of North America into industrial slaves, working long hours in various factories set up by the UPFP for the gain of it's foreign investors. Truly, the “Freedom” in the United People's Freedom Party meant corporate freedom.

Centuries passed. The year 3000 finally dawned on humanity. Over the course of the long centuries, the world knew of relative peace. Every now and then a small war would break out, but with the advent of globalization, it would never last too long.

Even with most of the power in the world belonging to the faux-government of the UPFP and it's foreign investors, new factions in the world would sprout up. By the current year of 3037, the world would be dramatically shaped by their actions.

From the shadowy depths of ruined production plants abandoned long ago, human insanity warped with technological perfection. The world would find terror on a completely new level, as the fanatical Techlighten religion appeared in the world. They were all classified as cyborgs, completely obsessed with evolving into an absolutely perfect form. Casting Humanity as a flawed, imperfect, ultimately doomed being, the Techlightens ban together under their mysterious god GEIST on a crazed crusade to rid the world of all flesh. They go far beyond normal cyborgs with their Cybernetic modifications, they define their entire being by them. Often ritualistically sacrificing parts of their own flesh in trade for a more mechanical form, Techlightens seek to assimilate their bodies to completely technological forms, in their quest to achieve a higher tier of evolutionary perfection.

From nearly the same shadowy depths of unknown origin, also crept forth a new being. A new strain of human ideology that begged to call back to the older times, when humans and nature co-existed as one. Starting out as a peaceful movement who were ruthlessly persecuted against by the UPFP, the group that would be known as The Naturalists comprised of highly advanced scientists and daring thieves who strived to breathe natural life into a planet that had died long ago. Working in secret, working in shadow, The Naturalists fight against all industrial powers on their noble quest to re-unite humanity with nature. Unlike their Techlighten enemies, they completely reject the notion of cybernetics, and make their bodies stronger through completely natural means. Working in underground sanctuaries, the Naturalists often harbor many organic artifacts which their scientists work on in trying to re-engineer the environment.

Yet, far away from the shadowy workings of the Naturalists and Techlightens, rose a sociological phenomenon that changed the entire course of underground crime forever. With nearly all racial, cultural, and national identities dissolving into one another over the course of the centuries, one single syndicate would rise up above the rest. The Aon Syndicate, which can be loosely translated to the “Unity Syndicate”, abolished all other groups of organized crime on a world-wide level. Every single crime organization, from the mightiest of mafias to the smallest of gangs, either swore their allegiance to the new Aon Syndicate....or they were killed without hesitation. By the dawn of 3000, there was absolutely no other major organized crime unity capable of competing with the Aon Syndicate. Implementing a strict hierarchy-based system that stemmed from many years of bloody urban warfare, the Aon Syndicate lives by a complete code of honor. Split up into various clans, they are the ultimate force in the underground world. To earn the Syndicate's ire would be to earn a swift death, while earning their favor would grant great rewards.

Hence, is the reality of grand Delphoria in the year of 3037. A gigantic, highly evolved city where the upper class elite live lives of unimaginable luxury, and the lower masses constantly struggle in the ongoing chaos rising up between all of the factions. It will be very interesting to see how the next pages of history get written in the future years to come.
