I'm looking for some ideas on some comedy or mutually 'ha-ha' animes out there. I need to cheer up a little and that may help, but seriously... Some anime isn't funny and others suck. Also, most funny animes are present-day... Where's the funny fantasy and funny future?

Let's see.. non present day?

Dirty Pair is an old classic, and pretty funny. It's futuristic.

Dragon Half is always hilarious.

Elf Princess Rane is definitely a comedy. It's slightly present day.. but has an elf princess who can't speak Japanese or English, a guy who speaks backwards, and like 27 identical sisters.. it's a crack head anime.

Grenadier has its moments. It's a bit of a fan service anime, but hey, whatever.

Slayers (and Slayers Next) is always good for a laugh. I personally prefer Next, but the original is still very good. I didn't think Try was as good, and I can only take the OVAs when I'm in the mood.

Those Who Hunt Elves (and II) are a bit on the short side. It's present day getting sent into fantasy. I still love the tank-cat. ^_^

That's all I can really think of that isn't present day. Does that help any?

Don't forget Dokora Chan and Melancholy of Haruha Suzumia.... or something XD I'm bad with the big Japaneses names.

Check out Rune Soldier. It's a riot. Srsly. Louie is a mage in training but he's built like a Fighter. hilarity ensues.
