I got the info from a OnePiece fan at gamestop, but it makes sense on all that's been happening with the series. One of OnePiece's Japanese owners (tvtokyo or some group) sued 4Kids for butchering the anime in America and taking out complete arcs including the mini dragon girl arc and all of Alabasta. I guess it either wasn't part of the contract or 4Kids ******ed up back and really pissed off Oda. In the turn of events, 4Kids relinquished rights (or lost them) to OnePiece and Funimation got it instead.
After this event, Funi decided to redub all eps and release them uncut, with the uncut Japanese included. The OnePiece game also came out on the Wii with a new voiced cast and it's very good (same employee told me this. I have yet to get the game... But I intend to!)
Can anyone find a news article or something about this? And if not, feel free to open conversation.
Doesn't surprise me. Whenever something like this happens the creators almost never take part in how it gets transfered over. I'd say unless they tried to take an active part in how it was shown in America then they shouldn't get anything. Want something done right then do it yourself.
=O *goes to show 17 other people the links*
I knew Funi was redubbing with much MUCH better voices, and by the samples I really see how this is going to work now. Let the OnePiece fans rejoice!
