I've been getting Game Informer the last year and I realized a few months ago that I need to find a better magazine group. GI hates the Wii and appears to be paid by either Sony or Xbox to filter out their trash repeatedly. This does me no good! The only nextgen game console I have is a Wii!
So I've narrowed my choices down to two magazines:
Nintendo Power
EGM - Electronic Gaming Magazine? Monthly? One of those.
The differences:
Nintendo Power has only Nintendo stuff. Good way to go for Wii games, right? The last magazine I got has more DS shit in it than Wii, and for some unsanctioned reason didn't like Okami. I mean... Okami! How could you give it a 7? Some magazine out there gave it a 9.5. I mean, sure, the controls were wanky, but it's still a good game! Even so, that was only one magazine I got and my bro use to collect Nintendo Power back when it first came out. Maybe the next magazines will debut more Wii games with better reviews.
EGM is another magazine, like GameInformer, that reviews all platforms. The last Magazine I got was February or March and it has a giant Pikachu on the cover. The downside? Well... It reviews all games, so less points for getting the scoop on Wii.. There's also this annoying Join the Army cardstock-grade ad in it that pissed me off. The good news is that they are very friendly and open with their reviews and go indepth with them. I enjoyed reading the goods and bads of games even off the Wii system.
So what do you think I should subscribe to next? Both are the same yearly price (20 bucks).
Well, if you like ones that have a bit of everything then go with EGM. Nintendo power will give you more stuff on nintendo, but they also might be much more one sided. And in all honesty, there really isn't a lot out for the Wii that's good compaired to other systems. >_> As far as good games go I'd go with the DS, it would explain why I've amassed over 20 games for it in a year's time. -_- My poor wallet...
