Description: The upcoming release...

Raguna Megido - November 5, 2003 07:53 PM (GMT)
So, anyone looking to buy it when it comes out in North America? Or are you not looking forward to it at all? Perhaps somewhere in between looking forward to and not?

I believe it's due out on the 18th of this month (two days after my b-day, whee!). I definitely am looking forward to it, just to see if it's any good, considering it's the first sequel to a FF game.

I definitely am looking forward to seeing Paine in action as well.. n_n

Anyone thinking of getting the Japanese FFX-2 International?
I know if I could, I'd probably get that version myself.. :ph43r:

KrazyKelli - November 5, 2003 08:43 PM (GMT)
XD I haven't played FFX. Didn't know X-2 was the sequel of it. Which just goes to show how much I know of the present FF world.

XD so I take it it's after FFX. If that's the case I can't get it yet =P or when it comes out.. haven't played the first game.

FrozenShade - November 5, 2003 11:31 PM (GMT)
GAaa! I have only played parts of FFX. It was good with what I have played. We have an XBOX over here at my house, but no PS2. I am gonna get one soon hopefully. Yet, I wanna see what X-2 is like. It may be good, may be bad, who knows?

Bonta-kun - November 6, 2003 05:19 AM (GMT)
After playing about 5 min worth of the Japanese version, I am somewhat convinced that this will be a somewhat interesting FF game. Can someone say, Charlie's Angels?

Akisu - November 6, 2003 08:22 AM (GMT)
I want to get it just to see how the rest of the story goes. I liked FFX, so hopefully I'll like this one. :)

FrozenShade - November 6, 2003 02:06 PM (GMT)
I agree with you on that, Aki...but you know...Bonta has a good point...

It does have a differet feel than FFX, but I haven't decided if it's a good thing or not. I'd love to play the Japanese version though (especially FFX-2 Internationl)..

Anyway, I just played the demo last night and am still unsure what I think. If anyone who has played FFX and beaten it, I'd suggest going out and snagging the latest issue of The Official Playstation Magazine because it has a demo of FFX-2. Even if you haven't beaten FFX you may wanna pick up the issue for the disc anyway.
As there's also a video on it linking the previous game with this one (I believe that video was originally on the Japanese FFX International).

I'm not sure, but I think they've changed voice actors for this one too, I kind of liked the English vocal cast of FFX. You can really tell if you play the video that links the two games, then play the demo of FFX-2 itself and tell. I can't speak for anyone but Rikku and Yuna though,as that's the only returning ones you see in the demo. Again, could be wrong there... But I don't think I am wrong on that..never know though.

I would highly recommend getting/renting FFX and finishing it first
before FFX-2.. Probably could be beat in a week or less depending on what you go for and don't, how long you usually play, etc.
I'd say X-2 is (at least at first) may be a bit less serious, but probably does have some more serious things the further along you get..

Either way, hope it's good and hope everyone enjoys it. n_n

As far as I know, with the Japanese intro is also sung by Yuna voice actress, Kouda Kumi. I don't know any details of the english version but I have heard that the main songs will be sung by some person named Jade of Sweetbox.

i for one can't wait to play this game! the one thing i'm cringing about though, did they redo the songs? i'm still a little doubtful with that, it's just.......ah well, guess we'll just have to see how it turns out, yah? one more week!! XD

but if you really enjoyed FFX, but found the ending to be somewhat......mleh, then FFX-2 will definitely patch that up for you. great ending(s), i was really satisfied and i hope you all will enjoy it as well! ;)

I see myself staying awake for about 30 hours straight in playing this game starting next wednesday

Akisu - November 19, 2003 10:00 AM (GMT)
I think I'll probably wait untill x-mas to get it, as much as I'd like to get it when it first comes out, I have other things I'll be doing, not to mention, x-mas = free when buying it myself does not. XD

well guys, what do you think so far? has this game met expectations? are you enjoying the battle system, stories, characters, etc?

at first, i was kinda cringing with the thought of the songs being sung in english, but after watching the OP a few more times, it started to work for me. the voice acting, in my opinion, improved a great amount! yuna doesn't sound so boring anymore, she's actually quite a fun character now! and rikku, well, that girl's had spunk from the beginning and is still my favorite! paine, i believe, has a flawless voice actress, her pessimism is presented nicely through her voice acting. they really like to talk a lot during battle now, yah? i'm glad they dubbed over the lines without saying anything too cheesy XD "I'm gonna smack you gooood!!" "Less talk, more fight!" and i'm sure they'll say more as you acquire new dresspheres....

but anyway, let's hear what you guys have to say!! XD

Raguna Megido - November 24, 2003 04:52 AM (GMT)
Okay, in my opinion the voices in the demo, they were so far my least favourite bits acted. It is the same English Voice Actresses for Yuna and Rikku, but as my friend desfunk said "They're trying to do it better. Yuna. Doesn't Sound. Like. This." (or something to that effect).
I've gotten way beyond those parts of the story (and am about to the other part shown in the demo) and like the voice acting just fine now (call me picky okay =P) and Paine has all the best lines (as Yuna complains about in some random battles), but I might be biased.

Yes, enjoying the the battle system and the dress spheres, etc (one minor thing so far, White and Black mages can no longer simply Attack (not that they did much damage with their rods/staffs anyway, but still).

Some of their random battle comments are rather amusing...

Anyway, definitely not the Final Fantasy some might be expecting ("Someone Spilled Charlie's Angels in my FF" as one poster at another board labeled a topic), nonetheless it's a good game that's pretty darn fun. It's not all sillyness and such, but it is a bit more lighthearted in parts than FFX was... I expect it to get more serious as it goes along..

I'd say for those interested, if you're not sure about it, rent it, see what you think and go from there.. I'd still recommend buying it though, I'd say it's worth it.. n_n

As for how far I am, I'm on Chapter 2 about to go into Chapter 3... n_n

Bonta-kun - November 24, 2003 06:44 AM (GMT)
I can honestly say that even though it's a Final Fantasy, I am somewhat disappointed due to lack of originality. I know that it's a sequel so I'm not going to bash that. What I am bashing is the fact that the dressphere system is just a tweaked up version of Final Fantasy Tactics' (including advance) job system.
