Title: Last Samurai
Description: (no spoilers)

Just watched the new Tom Cruise flick "The Last Samurai."

I was a bit skeptical going into it... I typically find the premise of an outsider trying to lead a nation to victory to be cliche. Well, as cliche as it is in this flick, it works. The music is good, the dialogue (in english and japanese) is good, but the cinematography is outstanding. The Japanese coutryside is beautifuly done as well as a 1870s era Tokyo.

And what is a movie like this without fights? Well, there is plenty of sword action as well as gun action. The fights are quick and clean with a good balance of gore and art.

The plot builds nicely and the violence fits in well. Characters are deep enough to care about without being more than human.

Giving much more migth be a spoiler, but I will say that there are several nice surprises in what the director put in the film and what he left out.

My personal rating system:
See it again in the theatre? No
Buy it on DVD? No
Watch it again on cable? Yes
Should you go watch it? Yes
Did I get my money's worth? Yes

IM me if you want details.

I really really wanna see this movie really really bad. I missed my cause Friday and Saturday :( BUT i'll see very very soon (Tuesday when it's $4 bucks all day and night :D ) But so far I heard it was a very cool movie probably one of Tom Cruise' Best Films of all time...i'll be the judge of that when I see it.

Seen it yet?

Ok.. i heard a great description of what this movie is. It is "Dances with Wolves" meets "Braveheart." Plot of the former, action of the latter... SO if that doesn't prove that this is a cool movie, no amount of writing will.

Yeah, I was thinking it was like those two movies while I was watching it. o_O
Anywho, I saw it yesterday, I thought it was pretty good. A bit slow in places, but the fighting kicked ass! :D

I recommend anyone that has not seen this movie should DAMN WELL see it. Seriously, the movie, plot, characters, scenery, music, was beautiful. It set a wonderful mood and really pulled me in.

Yes, there were times when I was wondering how far I got into the movie. But come on, everyone feels that way with most movies when sitting for more than an hour. ^^`

The only actual thing I found bad about Last Samurai was that the moviescreen was slightly ripped and had specs of - I think - spit on the canvas. And these two assholes were talking during the movie and babbling during quiet extremely good scenes.. XD But since that actually wasn't part of the movie, I have to say that LastSamurai is a Have'2'See.

I wanna see it again. Not only to clean my head of how tainted the last time I watched it had been. But because it's SO GOOD. GRAH. I'd seriously spend cash to see it again (or sneak in, shh... ;) )

Buy it on DVD? I'm sure i would end up doing so. Once it hits dvd the movie will become a good classic if anything XD

But yeah, go see it.. ^^ God recommends it B)

gotta say that the sword he had was pretty cool...

I honestly felt that this was Tom Cruise's best movie since Jerry Maguire

Well, I'm not much of a Tom Cruise fan, but this movie did intrigue me just by its trailers.

I was hoping to watch it before it's gone from theatres, but I fear that that won't be possible because of what seems to be the "financial" problems in my life.
