Title: Call of Duty Review (omg.. a fps?!)

Call of Duty was a WWII first person shooter that came out last fall and has dominated the fps market for quite a whilte since. It runs a modified half-life gaming engine like most fps but with far more quality and realistic physics. It required the use of DirectX 9.0 and it's requirements are some of the highest for a first person shooter I've ever seen. The graphics are wonderful with a video card (inspect that german you just headshotted and watch his body pool in blood with his helmet a foot or three away) and the single player isn't bad (if anything, it's just a prep for your fate in the multiplayer servers). Single player consists of British, American, and Russian campaigns respectfully with unique weapons for each (though the Americans and British share the same sniper rifle, and the Germans are only playable as the Axis in Multiplayer) there are several settings but the only worthwhile one is the hardest setting, aptly named 'Hardened' You die in one shot. Period. You HAVE to constantly pull off insane maneauvers and peak around corners just so you don't get frustrated starting off where you saved last every 30 seconds or so ;) but it does prepare you for the harsh reality of multiplayer, which is where all the game truely lies. There are a lot of maps, with more added with every patch, and custom maps available; the guns were 'nerfed' for equality and the only one I can honestly say is better than it should be is the Bren LMG the british have.

Unfortunately, the default controls (as with almost every other fps I've ever played) has controls that don't make sense and aren't anywhere near each other. I localize them around the arrow keys so that I can easilly hit them with my thumb or pinky, but that's just me. But once you get a control system that seems smoot to you, the game really shines. Once you're used to how the maps work, and how to convince your friends not to camp (unless it's some sort of objective map, then the name of the game is campity camp camp camp) you can outflank the enemy and send them to their graves in a hail of gunfire from your fully automatic thompson, sniper heads poking above the trenches with your m1, or just room-sweep with your PPSH. I honestly find the game quite addictive and when I get on teamspeak with some of my clan members we completely pwn pretty much any normal game in which we're not scrimaging; then it's usually a stand off with some sort of split second decision deciding who wins by the skin of their teeth.

I currently reside in the DoW clan as well as DoW's special forces/elite division the Screaming Eagles, and I've owned the game since it's come out; so if you're new to it or are just thinking about buying it I'd be more than happy to help you out ;)
