This movie is very cute. It stars Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Toni Collette, and David Duchovny (X-Files *Drool*). A word of warning: If you're a homophobe, or feel uncomfortable with crossdressing, then just don't watch this.
Movie Plot:
Connie and Carla are best friends who love to do cabaret style singing. They aren't too popular but they try to get by. They accidentally witness a murder, and are spotted, so they go on the run. They decide L.A. would be the best place to hang out, and go to West Hollywood. They don't have a whole lot of luck trying to find jobs, until going into a bar to get drunk, they happen into a bar of almost all drag queens, and the current stage act is leaving to hit Vegas, and they need replacements. Connie comes up with the plan of pretending to be drag queens themselves, to get the job. They become a huge hit at the audition, and start to work at the bar. Meanwhile one of the henchmen is going from city to city, watching all the cabarets, dinner shows, broadway plays etc possible to try to find them. Add a plot twist involving David Duchovny who's a straight brother of the queen bartender, and it makes for a great comedic movie. ^_^
I just saw this recently myself found it rather enjoyable indeed. n_n
Can't think of much more to say than the above. However, I'd say, for those willing to give it an honest chance, at least rent it and see if you like it. It's not that expensive to rent a movie anyway...
