Title: Disgaea
Akisu - September 23, 2004 03:34 AM (GMT)
Got this for my bday. I really like the story line, it's cute at times, funny most of the time, though some parts are really sad, like the part I got to today. Made me cry. ; ;
Anyway, it's a tactics type game. A grid with characters you can move around. Pretty fun. ^^ Can also be a challange sometimes, which is nice.

doooood! I love this game. Its been a major distraction from FFXI. I like the humor thats in it. Flonne is definately one of my favorite comic relief characters in a long while. (Laharl's weakness and the ultimate zombie are pretty cool tool)

Isn't this game old now? Maybe I'm just in nolan-time.
Doesn't it have a sequel now, though?
Akisu - September 27, 2004 06:07 AM (GMT)
It's a bit old. And I heard there was a prequil out for it, in the US, too. Just don't remember the name. ~_~

I own it.. but I rarely play it... Strange, because it is a really fun game. Damn FFXI and my current 2nd job as a Farmer!

There's no actual sequal to it but there is at least 1 if not 2 other game(s) that take place in the same gaming universe. La Pucile Tactics is the one that takes place on the Angel's side of things and im not sure what the other game is called or if it takes place in the same universe thing.
and I'm stuck...I'm having trouble taking care of 2 geo panels that give all these lv 40+ monsters 6x stats. Laharl 's not powerful enough to take out both of the Geo panels completely :(

Sounds like you need to go on a leveling spree then. :/ I'm probably getting close to that part now. Laharl is level 31 I believe, maybe 32. I haven't played it since the sad part. Been busy with school, sleep, or rping. ^^;

Have it, but haven't played it in a while, too busy or distracted.
The other game by the same people I think, which just came out recently, is Phantom Brave. I have that and La Pucelle, but haven't finished either yet. All seem enjoyable though.

Phantom Brave....where's my pencil and paper...>_>
yeah i don't like leveling sprees much but i ended up going on a fundraising spree, gained a level, petitioned for better equips, bought a new s-word and dealt with the 2 panels no prob. now im dealing with what im guessing is the final boss who is just *twitch*
working on mages gets tough at times (namely the healers) but the final chapter makes leveling really quick (multiple characters have gained 10-18 levels each not to mention Laharl who is now 30 some odd levels higher than everyone else with stats through the roof (thank you nobility items :D))...Good gravy its FF4 all over again >_<

Wooo! Disgaea! By far one of my favorite games! Believe it or not, ive put over 260 hours in this game. Also, I havent heard anything about the Alternate Neatherworld... Are you people not going through it? Sure its hard (it starts off with level 100 guys, and the first boss you fight is level 2000 or something... [incedentally the first boss is someone you might recognize from la Pucell Tactics]). There are some tricks however.... If anyone is interested on how to beat the level 2000 boss when you're just level 90, and how to beat the next, level 3000 boss without leveling up any, or for that matter, how to get as many level 9900, most powerful monsters in the game on your side as you want, let me know. I dont want to post it because it is kinda cheap. Incedentally, I havent seen any of the following tricks in any other forums, so I'm reasonably sure most people dont know them. Ive currently beaten the most powerful boss in the game (level 7000, but much more powerful than any other level 9000 guy) over seven times, and Leharal is still only level 225.

Disgaea, it's also one of my favorite games! Actually...I've never played it... <_<
I've wanted to get it ever since it first came out, but I somehow never got to it...Don't kill me for not buying it! >< I've just been to busy with "other" games out there...and not to mention school, work, and babysitting (Which, btw, I don't get paid enough for...)...so Yea, I'm still trying to save up money to buy this without running out of money for myself. :ph43r:

Little update to this, there is a new game coming to America, I dont remember the name off hand, but its called (something or other) Brave. No relation in terms of prequil/sequil to Phantom Brave, but with a similar format. The screenshots look pretty good, and as soon as a hear a release date I'll post it. On a related note: for those of you who like the tactics format, but would like to see battles on a larger scale, and like myself have a deep affection for Mechs, I would suggest Front Mission 4. Not quite as good as Disgaea in terms of over all gameplay though, so I still suggest Disgaea over all other Tactics games (except Final Fantasy Tactics for the PS 1 which is still #1 in my book).

This new (something or other) Brave game. I haven't heard anything about it. Is it being made by Nippon Ichi Software also? I can't seem to find it on their site.
