I went to TASS on Saturday and I have to say Samurai Champloo was... awesome. It has slightly better quality animation than kenshin and seems to be cowboy bebop style. There's a little bit of hip-hop and crap in the background, but it is a very amusing tale of samurai in the Japan of the not-so-distant past. The particular episode I saw was one where they run into a man from holland... who turns out to be gay. He had read a japanese book of sodomy and thought it was a paradise only to find that it was definately... not. It even has some historical relevance (Dutch East Indian Company) and just before he bids them farewell he said something so absurd... so funny that I had to rub my eyes and read the subtitles again.
"Someday... this entire country will open up their assholes!"
to which one of the main samurai characters reply
"But who would want to open their asshole to you?"
The entire time there's little scenes like that. There's some fighting, a nice little ongoing plot, and cowboy bebop-style tangents like I just described. It's a very nice series if you ever feel like downloading it.
Champloo is a very good series.. the plot finaly kicks in for real around ep 15. Hardcore action and some cheeky humor... Very very cool. Haven't seen a new ep in about 3 weeks as the fansubbers have slowed down. I think this series has been licensed for about 2 months now.. so that contributes.
Just thought I'd tell you guys in this thread (cause I don't want to make a new one and it's on topic) that Samurai Champloo will be coming out on DVD (dvd #1) sometime this month. Pretty sure Jan 24th.
So if you like the anime so much and it's only a handful of eps (less than 26, anyway), support it.
