There isn't usually a great deal of cons within the state, but there is a nice substitute that just started up until late september and will be on break during the U of A's winter break and will come back afterwords until their summer break. It's TASS (Tucson Anime Screening Society). Every other saturday from 1:00pm to 9:00pm they rent out one of the classrooms and project anime onto a 12 to 20 foot screen depending on the room. It's awesome. Every once in a while some people do get into cosplay, and when a little over a dozen people did they had a little impromptu mob vote on who's was best and gave them Read or Die on DVD as well as a Naru wallscroll. Speaking of that... they have a raffle every time that usually has at least one dvd, some plushies, wallscrolls, and posters. Some of the screenings are private (have to be a member 12.00 for a semester, 20.00 for the year) but most of them are public and anyone who wants to can just sort of show up. So if anyone is ever anywhere near there and feels like going check tass.org to see when a screening is :)
