Now that steroids are out in the public eye, will McGriff's 493 career homeruns get him in the Hall of Fame. McGriff was one guy who IMO did not use steroids. He stayed the same size throughout his career and never had one of those monster increases in homers. Now that suspicion is pointed in the direction of Barry, Sammy, McGwire, Palmeiro et al, do McGriffs numbers look better? Or, does he get penalized for having played when the steroid cheats were playing. To me, his numbers look more impressive considering he didn't appear to bulk up like the other recent additions to the 500 club (the one exception in my mind is Griffey).
I think the man should get into the hall just for having 493 homeruns to begin with. There are certainly less qualified people in the hall already. Steroids or not, I think he belongs there.
Personally, I'd hope that steroids wouldn't even come into the discussion, but since there's no way to get around that these days, he probably should get more recognition for being one of the clean guys.
Dear Chuck, I'd have to agree. McGriff never had a huge his home in his home run production as type like
Rafael Palmerio did. Furthermore, he never put on the 50 pounds of bulk as others also did, such as Bonds and Sosa. Unless, there are later relevations concerning his career, the steroids scandel should have no effect upon his ballot. Best regards, Cle
